10 Best MOBA Games Like March of Giants

Nowadays, MOBA games bleed into one another, with subtle, minor alterations to the League of Legends and DOTA formula. So much so that the announcement of the free-to-play 4v4 March of Giants MOBA game came as a surprise, given the breath of life and freshness it brings to the genre. The setting stands out the most, described as an urban, steampunk-style battlefield from an alternate early 1900s. As well as an interesting incorporation of RTS gameplay.

Both fantasy and science influence the titular giants you’ll be controlling, as you command thousands of foot soldiers into war. The strategic gameplay seems pretty tactical, from sprouting up trenches to building tanks and setting up turret defenses. Watching the trailer, it’ll probably remind you a lot of Demigod, which sadly didn’t quite sustain popularity over time. While we await the final launch, why not try out the best MOBA games like March of Giants below?

10. Pokémon UNITE

Pokemon UNITE Official Cinematic Trailer

For a long time, Pokémon games have been about exploring a colorful and vibrant world, capturing wild creatures and monsters, and training them to do battle against one another. However, Pokémon UNITE, for the first time, takes the franchise to the next level, combining the franchise’s mega universe with the MOBA genre.

It’s fun and will occupy you for hours on end, coordinating your attacks in groups of five against an opposing team. Starting with a limited asset of powerful skills and signature abilities, you compete to collect Aeon energy and level up your wild Pokémon. You’ll train your selected heroes across matches, growing them in strength and evolving their abilities to take on more powerful teams.

9. Heroes of the Storm

Heroes of the Storm, on the other hand, brings together your favorite heroes from the Blizzard universe. The art style is pretty cool, and the gameplay plays pretty well. In the tactical arena, teeth come out as you race to destroy the opposing team’s minions and heroes.

How you customize your heroes matters a lot, focusing on leveling up essential tiers. Meanwhile, you’ll want to take advantage of the diverse battlegrounds, capturing watch towers, gaining XP at mercenary camps, and destroying enemy structures.

8. SMITE

Any MOBA fan will have played SMITE, with millions of players showing off their best moves. Personally, I live for gods waging war against one another in huge, spectacle fights. Every god is different, with such unique powers and abilities, you’ll have all the incentive to experiment with them all.

Despite gods like Zeus seeming stronger, SMITE makes it a point to balance out every character’s abilities. That way, you all have a level playground. Meanwhile, the devs have really put their best effort into designing sharp visuals and animations, and polishing the map to massive appeal.

7. Vainglory

Vainglory - (LAN) Party Trailer

Vainglory looks damn good, even on touchscreens. Anyone with a decent knowledge of MOBA games will easily dive in, selecting characters and blending their unique abilities for the good of the whole team. Even when you only have one buddy, you can hop into a quick game on the go, tackling enemy structures and pushing back AI-controlled enemies.

Despite being a mobile exclusive, Vainglory hardly falls back on the best MOBA games like March of Giants. Controls are super fluid and responsive as you move characters across the screen to attack different foes. Special attacks, too, are easy to unleash, thriving through the levels wherever you may be.

6. Dota 2

The MOBA genre really hit its height of gaming after DOTA’s release. And with the second installment, many more players squeezed every ounce of tension-satisfaction from it.

You actually take the time to master the features and mechanics, rather than button-mash your way through. Staying on top of your game is a must, as you juggle between communicating with your teammates, giving them deep vision to outsmart enemies, and taking control of the map.

5. Paladins

Paladins adds cards to its battle system, helping you fine-tune your champion’s abilities. It gives you a whopping ton of options to defeat enemies, buffing your character with special effects. As a result, you can become your own (wo)man, perfecting your playstyle across various Team Deathmatch, Front Line, Siege, and more game modes.

4. Arena of Valor

Arena of Valor may go easy on beginners, providing over 100 unique heroes to choose from. While it’s a lot similar to League of Legends, you’ll find the playthrough pretty addictive. Get ready to siege enemy towers, leveling up the more enemies you take down.

You’ll gradually increase your power, unlocking special moves, buffs, armor, and more goodies, before it all wraps up in a climactic 15-minute or less match.

3. Demigod

Demigod PC Games Trailer - Epic

A no-brainer addition to the best MOBA games like March of Giants is Demigod. It may have faded into the background over the years, but it remains one of the OGs that popularized the genre. Better? It lacks microtransactions that have killed some really great MOBAs. You get the unique MOBA and RTS combination of gameplay, and command assassins and generals into war.

It’s a constant move forward, guiding your demigod (brigand or gladiator) into attacking and capturing flags. Your demigod leads your army of minions into battle, attacking the enemy every which way. You also manage resources and level up your specialized avatar. When you destroy the enemy’s Citadel structure, the win is yours (and your team’s).

2. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

Console games are generally better, but Mobile Legends: Bang Bang far outdoes itself. You know the drill: pick a hero, push back enemies, work with your team, and don’t forget to level up. In no time, you’re pulled into a fun and frantic loop of relentless matches, destroying opponent’s turrets and earning that coveted gold.

1. League of Legends

A New Dawn | Cinematic - League of Legends

And finally, League of Legends, the OG of the best MOBA games like March of Giants. Because of its dominance in the genre, the gameplay mechanics and systems have been refined over and over. So much so that the roster is epic, strategies go deep, and updates keep on coming.

It’s not easy peasy here, pushing you to focus on hitting all the objectives. Checking the minimap to track enemy movements is a must, while keeping on point with your team to avoid surprise attacks in the race to snag the most kills.
