WWE 2K25: Everything We Know

It’s nearly that time of the year when we receive a new entry in the WWE 2K series. You’ll be happy to know that the details for the upcoming game are already streaming in. While still scanty, we can at least confirm that the game’s development is on schedule. Moreover, the respective pages on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox are already out now. So, what have Visual Concepts and 2K Games confirmed so far about their newest WWE 2K game? Well, stick around to find out everything we know about WWE 2K25 so far.

What is WWE 2K25?

WWE 2k25 is an upcoming professional wrestling sports video game. It’ll be the 25th overall entry in the long-running video game series based on WWE. It’ll also be the 11th title under the WWE 2K banner.

The game will follow WWE 2k24, which launched on March 5, 2024. As a result, it’s expected to retain most of its predecessor’s gameplay features. However, we may see the addition of new features and improvements to the overall gaming experience.

Being an annual franchise, we’ve always anticipated that WWE 2K25 will be coming sometime in 2025. However, confirmation that the game is actually in development has only just been revealed at the Monday Night WWE Raw show, now airing on Netflix.

Story

Rumors have it that Roman Reigns, The Tribal Chief, will be the cover star for WWE 2K25. While there has not been official confirmation, we have two convincing hints that this might be true.

Firstly, the announcement that WWE 2K25 is currently in development came during the WWE Raw show on Netflix on Monday Night. It was spearheaded by Roman Reigns and executive Paul Heyman. Midway through the show, we see Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman appearing in a video at the backstage.

Heyman inquires about Reigns’s next appearance, to which The Tribal Chief replies that it will be confirmed on January 27. The two then enter a locker room, cueing a WWE 2K25 logo slammed on the door.

Also, Steam may have mistakenly leaked Roman Reigns as WWE 2K25’s cover star. When Steam put up the upcoming game’s profile page, they may have accidentally revealed images of Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman, suggesting The Tribal Chief could be this year’s cover star. However, Steam quickly took down the images and replaced them with WWE 2k25’s logo.

So, it still remains uncertain. In any case, the developing team promises that more details will be forthcoming on January 27th, 2025. So, be sure to keep an eye out on the official social media page here, alongside gaming.net, for updates on story, gameplay, editions, and more.

Gameplay

As for the gameplay, we also don’t know the exact details of the features you can expect in the game. However, Xbox celebrated the debut of the Monday Night WWE Raw show on Netflix by posting screenshots of WWE 2K25 on their X social media page

These images revealed some of the iconic stars that will feature in the upcoming game. They include the undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes, Liv Morgan, Damian Priest, and CM Punk. The images look stunning, certainly improvements in the graphics from WWE 2K24

It’s highly encouraging, suggesting that the new game may have more tricks up to its sleeve with regards to elevating the story and gameplay. Meanwhile, the images are only the very first look at the new game, and we expect that more images and videos will follow in the coming weeks.

Unfortunately, WWE Raw’s announcement on Netflix that WWE 2K25 is in development did not come with a trailer for the reveal. In fact, it was quite touch and go.

However, we expect more details, perhaps the first gameplay trailer, on January 27th, likely during the Monday Night WWE Raw show on Netflix or sometime after.

Release Date, Platforms, & Editions

WWE 2K25: Everything We Know

Neither Steam nor PlayStation, Xbox, or the official website have confirmed an official release date for WWE 2K25. However, we can anticipate that the upcoming game will launch in March 2025 based on past releases.

See, WWE 2K22 launched on March 11, 2022, WWE 2K23 on March 14, 2023, and WWE 2K24 on March 8, 2024. So, it’s safe to assume that the new game will follow in its predecessors’ footsteps and also be released sometime in March 2025. To further ascertain our speculation, Take-Two has confirmed during its Q1 2025 financial year call that WWE 2K25 will be coming sometime before March 31, 2025.

Additionally, it’s official that WWE 2K25 will be coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC platforms. You can consequently begin to add the game to your wishlist, whether on the PlayStation, Xbox, or Steam store pages, in order to receive a notification as soon as it drops.

It’s unclear whether the title will make it to Nintendo Switch. Or at least the rumored Switch 2 that may be released in the first half of 2025. Certainly, the new game may be ported over sometime post-launch, but it remains a matter of speculation. The same goes for whether WWE 2k25 will be available on Epic Games Store or GOG, which remains unconfirmed at this time.

Lastly, Visual Concepts and 2K have yet to announce any editions that may be available for preorder. However, if we’re to base our speculation on previous entries, then you might want to expect the Standard, Digital Cross-Gen, and Deluxe editions.
