Focusing on couch co-op play, up to four players can play their game together using their mobile devices as controllers. The game is a creation of shared adventure, combining the feel of a classic tabletop RPG but with a modern digital twist. Players share danger as they face fantasies against both cooperation and strategy.
There is rich lore surrounding the world and so players will get themselves into battle in a tactical maneuver as they help rebuild a community. The system makes no set turn order, so it’s all about each player adapting their strategy for every encounter. Sunderfolk is unique because it is purely cooperative gameplay forcing you to communicate with others to defeat challenges.
Of course, you will have character classes with plenty of different abilities and playstyles. Exploring the Sunderlands, you would have to strategize about how you would face the enemies and threats, waiting for you. This fusion of tactical combat and teamwork, makes Sunderfolk a very good game. It is highly appealing to RPG fans and co-op gamers alike.
Story

In Sunderfolk, you’ll be fighting battles against enemies as a defender of the Sunderlands against the dark shadowstone that is swallowing the village of Arden. You can choose from six heroes: Arcanist, Bard, Berserker, Pyromancer, Ranger, or Rogue, to go out on quests with your friends, fighting enemies and overcoming challenges which may not have been there before. The Sunderlands are full of threats and it’s your job to keep Arden safe from the growing danger.
Gameplay

Sunderfolk is a tactical, turn-based combat game. It is designed and customized as a couch co-op game, so you and up to three of your friends can play together on your mobile devices as controllers. Each player will choose from six different classes: Arcanist, Bard, Berserker, Pyromancer, Ranger, or Rogue. Each class has different abilities, so whether you like supporting your team or fighting on the front lines, there will be a character that works just for your style. The overall goal is to combine your strengths and work as a cohesive team to overcome the challenges ahead.
In this game, the battle will not depend on a turn-based order. In fact, everyone can take his or her time and make some actions if needed, making it much more flexible and fast in pace. That means you need to think on the spur of the moment, as you may need to change your strategy along with the evolution of the battle. New enemies and obstacles can pop out with no announcement at all, so you and your team may need to be alert and adjust to it. There will be some sort of difference for each mission from challenges, so you will feel the uniqueness of fights with each mission.
Players will utilize their character’s Skill Cards against their opponents in combat. It makes them depict the several actions that can be carried out and individual talents of each class. This creates a range of strategic choices on which one can act during the game. There is no concept of turn order, so you may act when it suits best for the situation. Sunderfolk indeed promises to be a great co-op experience which fun will come with how well you and your friends work together in order to get the success.
Development

Sunderfolk is under development by Secret Door and under the publication label of Dreamhaven.
