La Quimera: Everything We Know
There’s a sea of FPS games out there. New ones keep popping up all the time, but only a few actually stand out. Some fade quickly, while others leave a lasting mark. Right now, La Quimera is grabbing everyone’s attention. It’s the next big thing from Reburn, the team behind the Metro series. This time, they’re going for something different — futuristic combat, high-tech exoskeletons, and robotic enemies that won’t go down easily. Plus, you can team up with friends to tackle it all together. Sounds intense, right? Here’s everything we know so far about La Quimera.
La Quimera Story

The story of La Quimera takes place in the year 2064. The world has changed completely. Natural disasters and human mistakes in the 2030s and 2040s pretty much shattered everything. Big countries? They’re history now. Instead, you’ve got these tiny microstates just fighting to stay afloat. Armies are a thing of the past, and private military companies are running the show now, and guess what? You’re one of their operatives.
Your job is to take on high-risk missions in a fractured Latin America, and it’s not about shooting your way through. You’re stuck in a dangerous world filled with deception, betrayal, and high-stakes warfare. In addition to this, robotic enemies add to the chaos. They’re tough, unpredictable, and deadly, as some even crawl on walls or fly. You’re going to need more than just bullets to take them down because every decision you make counts. That’s the La Quimera’s story that revolves around survival, deception, and fighting for a future in a world that’s already gone off the rails.
La Quimera Gameplay

We haven’t seen full gameplay footage of La Quimera yet, but based on the trailer and the developers’ details, here’s what we can expect. The game takes you into a dystopian future where Latin America is split into microstates, and you’ll step into the shoes of a PMC operative, handling high-risk missions in huge cities and thick jungles. The world is loaded with advanced tech, rival factions, and deadly robotic enemies.
Moreover, you can choose to play solo or team up with a couple of friends. You’ll be sharing resources, stacking firepower, and using combat abilities to knock down enemies, which means you’ll really need to coordinate your tactics to survive in this harsh world. On top of that, you get to build your perfect arsenal by picking from a range of futuristic weapons and customizing your exoskeleton with different parts, so you can tailor your loadout to your playstyle or the specific enemies you’re up against.
And speaking of enemies, be prepared for some intense battles where you’ll face rival factions, each with its own style – some will charge straight at you, while others will pick you off from afar, and then there are the robots that are tough, unpredictable, and resistant to regular weapons. So, you’ll have to think on your feet and come up with creative strategies to take them down. And to help you out, you’ll have a personal combat AI assistant. It’ll give you tactical info during fights and guide you throughout the game.
Development

La Quimera is being developed by Reburn, an independent studio formerly known as 4A Games Ukraine. The studio is perhaps most famous for creating the Metro series, including Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light, and Metro Exodus. With the experience gained from creating story-driven shooter games, the team at Reburn is working towards creating a game that will balance exciting shooting and intimate storytelling of the Metro series with a new setting and new gameplay.
According to Dmytro Lymar, founder and CEO of Reburn, the decision to set La Quimera in a brighter, futuristic Latin America was a deliberate one. “After working on Metro, we decided to step into a bit brighter setting, but we still kept the game focused on the story,” Lymar said in an interview with GamesBeat.
