Occasionally, developers decide to spice things up for gamers by combining several different elements or genres in their titles. The result is often a one-of-a-kind gameplay that cements its place in the hearts of players everywhere. CloverPit is an upcoming game that has completely changed the dynamics of casino games. Developers and critics have adorned the impeccable horror title with praises such as hellish, devilish, and demonic. However, the title promises a lot more thrill and fun than initially meets the eye. Below, we discuss everything we know about it so far.

What is CloverPit?

What is CloverPit?

The game is an upcoming indie rogue-like horror that mimics the style of legendary games like Balatro and Buckshot Roulette. In it, players find themselves locked up in a rusty cell with a slot machine and an ATM. To win, you must clear your debt at the end of every round or fall to your demise. Furthermore, you can manipulate the slot machine to earn extra coins. You also win various prizes and charms that trigger big, big combos, snowballing into a dazzling lucky run.

Players have the freedom to bend or even break the rules, pushing their luck in hopes of tipping the odds in their favour. This adds a layer of thrilling unpredictability to the game, where risk and reward are constantly at odds. Much like the high-stakes decisions we face in real life, every choice in the game feels weighty and consequential. The atmosphere is electric, charged with tension and excitement, keeping players on edge as they anxiously watch the reels spin.

Story

Story

The protagonist is kidnapped. He wakes up to find himself in a rusty, narrow cell, standing over a dangerously unstable grate. The only way out of that hellhole is to play the slot machine and pay off the debt placed on you by the overseer. Failure to pay off the debt results in you getting dropped into the abyss, and another unfortunate soul will take your place. The title presents a terrifying match where every round is a risk and could very well be your last. Fortunately, you get power-ups, combos, boosts, and the liberty to finish off the game with one of multiple endings. Each round ushers in a new debt, and you must manipulate the workings of the slot machine to survive the play. You can use prizes and charms to tip the scales in your favour.

Gameplay

Gameplay

Players are immersed in a fun yet terrifying match where the goal is to attain ultimate freedom. You start off trapped in a small cell above a trap door with an endless pit beneath your feet. The only way out is through playing slots to earn enough money to pay off a debt. You get three rounds per debt. However, clearing a debt earns you three more rounds and more debt. The fewer rounds you use to pay off what you owe, the more tickets you earn to buy gimmicks that upgrade your character and your gameplay. Players can even out the increasing difficulty of each cleared debt through upgrades in the game.

You also gain access to purchasable items through tickets, which you earn from finishing debts generally, finishing debts early, and taking fewer spins in rounds. Additionally, you gain interest between rounds based on how much money you saved towards your debt. CloverPit has a feature that lets you play for free, for one round, if you don’t have any coins. Additionally, any lucky charms that use the slot’s button to activate are recharged at the end of each deadline. Alternatively, you can buy items like a car battery and use it to recharge the items.

On the comical side of things, the match has a toilet in the cell where you carry out your business. That unlocks the number 1 and the number 2 lucky charms, respectively, which activate yellow or non-yellow symbols twice in a row. The game also has a demo where players get a preview of what the game entails. In it, you can’t escape your fate, and players end up getting thrown into the abyss. However, you can get a voucher that opens a drawer in the full version of the game.

Development

Development

The game is an upcoming game under development by the esteemed creators of Sonic-like platformer Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom. One could best describe CloverPit as a dark and twisted tale designed to have multiple endings. The game surpassed people’s expectations, and so far, many fans and critics continue to praise it. Contrary to its features, the title is not meant to promote gambling. In fact, developers insist on their disdain for gambling and emphasise that this game is not a slot machine simulator. Rather, the design intends for it to be broken and ultimately overcome, and players will never use any real money in the gameplay.

Trailer

CloverPit - Official New Gameplay & Demo Trailer | Triple-i Initiative Showcase 2025

CloverPit was officially unveiled during the Triple-i Initiative Showcase as a roguelite horror match featuring slot machines. As bizarre as the concept sounds, the trailer reveals gameplay players have yet to experience. The setting exudes an atmosphere of terror as players work to get out of escape rooms. Aside from that, deadly creatures are constantly on your tail, trying to destroy you.

However, you can access over 150 items and synergies that allow you to hold your weight in the game. Also, as opposed to regular slot machines, CloverPit lets you adjust the value of symbols and boost coin payouts. As intriguing as that sounds, you have to ensure you have a sizeable amount of funds to avoid falling to your last breath. You can also toggle around with the RPG and change your fate, to increase your luck and your winnings.
