House Flipper 2: Everything We Know

Two-story home with garden in House Flipper 2

Sharpen your tools and roll out your flash mop — House Flipper 2 is en route, and it’s bringing twice as many bombshells to renovate as its predecessor. That’s right, Frozen District has been hard at work carving out yet another network of run-down locations for budding builders to rework and revitalize. But what’s new? Will there be even grander properties to cash in on this time around, or will it more or less serve as a 2.0 DLC of the base game that launched back in 2018?

As luck would have it, first-time builders and property developers won’t have to wait all that long to get their hands on the next chapter in the renovation simulation series; it’s due out in just a few short weeks, as it turns out. So, what more do you need to know about House Flipper 2 ahead of its global release on consoles and PC? Well, here’s everything we’ve been able to collect on the project since first hearing of it a fair ways back.

What Is House Flipper 2?

Renovated study in House Flipper 2

In case you missed out on the first segment in the series, House Flipper is a first-person building and property management simulation series, and one that invites fledgling creators to renovate a series of houses for the sake of flipping a profit and securing a thread of nifty perks. That’s the premise, in a nutshell: you acquire broken shells for properties, and essentially transform them into cozy homes—vessels in which you can design the interiors, exteriors, and every last miniature embellishment, to boot.

House Flipper 2 introduces new mechanics and revamps the ones from the original game,” the blurb reads in part. “The good old hammer, the trusty paint roller, and the sturdy mop, all await your return! The new visuals make our fixer-uppers look crisp as never before!”

According to Frozen District, the follow-up chapter will include several new updates, including a Sandbox Mode—a feature that will let players build their very own homes from the grassy roots up and carve out dream-like condos and apartments with an infinite selection of tools, paints, and components. Like before, builders will have access to an enormous range of tools and palettes—items with which you will need to utilize around the clock in order to turn a house into a home fit for a land baron.

Story

As far as storylines go, House Flipper 2 probably won’t have anything overly complicated. That said, Frozen District has mentioned that the game will introduce a mountainside locale known as Pinnacove, along with a local guide who you’ll have the chance to befriend and swap useful tips with as you whittle down the moves and renovation sites.

“Between the mountain tops and the endless sea, there lies the town of Pinnacove,” the description opens. “A place where time slows down, and the friendly residents are ready to entrust you with their homes. Can you discover some of the stories within these walls? Your old pal Tom, who seems to know everybody in the neighborhood, will gladly share some local knowledge with you.”

“In House Flipper 2, you are the foreman!” the description continues. “You get to decide what ‘relaxing gameplay’ means! Do you enjoy building? Choose the Sandbox Mode which allows you to construct houses from scratch. Or maybe you prefer cleaning and decorating? In the Story Mode, you will delve into long and engaging renovation projects, as well as deal with some quick jobs.”

Gameplay

Building a short wall in House Flipper 2

Going by what’s been said so far, House Flipper 2 will, more or less, feature a similar gameplay style as the original, which means you’ll still be able to carry out the same excavation and renovation steps as before. However, according to the devs, such gameplay mechanics have since been revamped and scooted aside for “new” features, as well as a core game mode, Sandbox. So, if you’ve a dream to build the ultimate dream home out in the mythical mountains of a stunning locale, then you’ll be pleased to know that House Flipper 2 will aim to accommodate exactly that.

As far as intricate details go, House Flipper 2 will grant you access to the same toolbox as before. To this end, you’ll need to demolish walls with your sledgehammer, tiles with your shovel, and essentially carry out a whole bunch of other manual duties with all the tricks and tools of the trade. Mindless destruction not your thing? Hardly tempted by the idea of watching paint dry? Don’t sweat it — the Sandbox mode will allow you to build without limits, which means less clutter to deal with, and more creative control over the building process. Can’t complain there.

Development

To celebrate the roaring success of the original chapter, developer Frozen District announced its sequel shortly after the initial release. Since then, the studio has teased a selection of in-game screenshots, as well as the odd gameplay trailer, to boot. What’s more, the team also went on to host a short but surprisingly insightful showcase over on its chosen streaming handles earlier this week. Interested?
