10 Best Weapons in Borderlands 4 2026
When Borderlands 4’s Epic Games says they have over 30 billion weapons and items for you to loot and upgrade, they mean it. If you’ve played the previous games, you’ll know they absolutely can handle it. The series has mastered the art of building upon the base assault rifles, snipers, SMGs, shotguns, and pistols.
You unlock new weapon parts through procedural generation of barrels, scopes, grips, and more. The combinations of these, and the unique stats and firing styles they carry from different in-game weapon manufacturers, make for a near-limitless wealth of weapon options to choose from.
By the end of your playthrough, you’ll have several favorites, each unique in effects and appearance. But how do you curate a weapon loadout that’s perfect for you? Which are the best weapons in Borderlands 4 that you’ll never go wrong with?
10. Streamer (Heavy Weapon)
Streamer is a heavy weapon, pretty handy when going up against heavily armored enemies and bosses. It shoots stationary projectiles, which emit energy beams for about three seconds. You can use it as a turret, positioning your projectiles at places where enemies and bosses will come into contact with. And once they do, they’ll take on heavy, devastating damage for a significant amount of time.
You can loot the Streamer heavy weapon in the Diessected Plateau in FadeFields after defeating The Oppressor main story boss in The Killing Floors.
9. Hot Slugger (Shotgun)
The Hot Slugger shotgun, on the other hand, is perfect for aggressive players looking to cash in on their kills. With every enemy you kill, you earn a 30% increase in damage output for ten seconds. Max that out to three enemy kills, and you’ll enjoy a whopping 90% increase in damage output.
What’s more? Landing critical hits causes your bullets to ricochet and damage nearby enemies. Thus, saving your skin when surrounded by waves of foes.
You can find the Hot Slugger shotgun in Craven’s Nook after defeating the Callous Harbringer of Annihilating Death.
8. Prince Harming (SMG)
With the Prince Harming SMG, you make do with a double-edge sword effect. Shooting enemies will inflict 13 damage points on you. However, it’ll also reward you with a stack of Cruelty up to a maximum of 30 stacks. And when you kill an enemy, you’ll restore six points of your overshield per stack. These many defensive benefits are hard to ignore, and can be a huge reward versus the risk taken.
You should find Prince Harming in Tendercage after defeating the Bango and Pango bosses.
7. Destructo Disco (Grenade)
Grenades are pretty handy in Borderlands 4, with Destructo Disco among the most powerful. It’s a slow-spinning disc that will unleash devastating AoE status damage to any enemy within its radius. And thus, a great tool for mob crowd control.
Destructo Disco is found after defeating the boss in Embossed Fault.
6. Complex Root (Sniper Rifle)
The best weapons in Borderlands 4 need to provide all the help you can get. And the Complex Root sniper rifle rises to the occasion with the additional diverging projectiles it shoots along its path. You can use it against menacing bosses with large hitboxes. Imagine having all the projectiles hit the boss? What massive damage you’ll do? Or having the projectiles wipe out mobs for you.
Be sure to loot the Complex Root sniper rifle after defeating the boss in the Tipping Point.
5. King’s Gambit (Pistol)
Ricocheting bullets is always a reliable way to dispatch pesky enemies. And the King’s Gambit pistol is a pro at it, unleashing ricochet projectiles on nearby enemies.
Find the King’s Gambit after defeating the boss in Lictor’s Black Site.
4. Aegon’s Dream (Assault Rifle)
Every Borderlands 4 player has to have the Aegon’s Dream assault rifle. It comes equipped with a double-barreled weapon, which shoots both Incendiary (fire) and Cryo (ice) damage. That’s in addition to an already high fire rate. This, by far, is the highest DPS you’ll achieve with an assault rifle.
You can loot the Aegon’s Dream assault rifle from the Horace boss found in Horace’s Oversight.
3. Rainbow Vomit (Shotgun)
Giving the Aegon’s Dream assault rifle a run for its money is the Rainbow Vomit shotgun. This one unleashes multiple elemental damage, all at the same time. So, for instance, you could inflict incendiary, corrosive, and shock damage simultaneously. These can ricochet, too, on nearby enemies, wiping out mobs with ease.
You won’t find any other weapon that can unleash three elements at once, making Rainbow Vomit a must-have among the best weapons in Borderlands 4.
To loot Rainbow Vomit, you need to complete the weekly Wildcard missions or defeat the Leader Willem boss in The Excrucible.
2. UAV (Grenade)
Another grenade that will serve you well in Borderlands 4 is the UAV. That’s because of its unique damage impact. Rather than simply exploding on its own, unleashing massive AoE damage, it spawns three mini-grenades instead. These target three nearby enemies, inflicting devastating elemental damage.
Spawning carpet bombs helps mitigate the chances of the grenade getting wasted. At least this way, you can be assured that it’ll take out three enemies.
Moreover, grenades fall in the Ordnance system, along with heavy weapons. This provides an extra slot for you to deviate from traditional ammo and amp up dealing more powerful, constant, and hard-hitting damage.
To loot the UAV grenade, you need to defeat Mimicron in the Tipping Order found in Idolator’s Noose.
1. Lead Balloon (Shotgun)
Lastly, be sure to test out the Lead Balloon shotgun in Borderlands 4. It’ll shoot projectiles, which launch into the air to spawn three more child projectiles that, upon exploding on impact, will inflict three times the base splash damage.
This can be a powerful AoE damage-dealing weapon against groups of enemies and bosses. Meanwhile, you can adapt the projectiles to various elemental status effects, saving you the trouble of hauling around multiple element-specific guns.
You’ll need to defeat the first Splashzone boss in the Coastal Bonescape to loot and equip the Lead Balloon shotgun.
