Another Eden Begins: Everything We Know

Nearly all aspects of mobile JRPG Another Eden don’t miss a beat. Be it the story-driven single-player quests, charming chibi 2D hand-drawn sprite art style, or strong, casual gameplay. It didn’t just take hours of fans’ time, but years onward, thanks to a balanced free-to-play system and a gacha model that didn’t leave a bad taste in your mouth.

It’s been such a sweet ride, in fact, that the mobile version has been ported over to consoles and PC, which brings us to Another Eden Begins. For fans and newcomers alike, here’s everything we know about Another Eden Begins so far.

What is Another Eden Begins?

Another Eden Begins: Everything We Know

Another Eden Begins is an upcoming JRPG and will be the console version of the beloved Another Eden mobile version. It’ll tell a time-traveling story, doubtlessly as charming as its original vibe, with funny, quirky characters. You’ll also engage in rewarding battles while enjoying new, wholesome content, including embarking on a new adventure, as well as a New Game+ mode.

But the overall structure will be like any other JRPG, with a diverse roster of characters to unlock and upgrade, and a compelling story to advance through, with the bonus of over ten multiple endings.

Story

Another Eden Begins: Everything We Know

Rest easy, as Another Eden Begins will be crafting a new adventure, one cutting across time and space. It’ll be a story by renowned Masato Kato, who’s responsible for so many RPG classics. This time, the Japanese game artist takes us through a rich, single-player adventure, with full voice acting, and supported by JRPG comfort food music. This’ll include Yasunori Mitsuda’s main theme song, as well as traditional folk arrangements and orchestra music by Procyon Studios. Overall, the story will involve time-travel, from the past to the present and future.

You can look forward to unlocking a diverse roster, each character having unique roles and abilities. And optimizing and synergizing their party groups will help you dominate strategic command battles. Beyond the main story, you’ll also have additional content via a New Game+ mode. Here, characters will still have their upgraded abilities, allowing you to take different paths and make different choices that unlock over ten story endings.

We do have specific details about the story, involving Aldo and his younger sister, Feinne. They live in a peaceful, idyllic village called Baruoki. One day, the Beast King kidnaps Feinne, and Aldo swears to find her, journeying across the Moonlight Forest. He eventually goes toe-to-toe with the beast, but ends up slipping through time and space, landing 800 years in the future.

Gameplay

The battle systems will be party-based and require strategic progression and party builds. Based on your character combinations, you can unlock synergies offering completely new skills. You’ll also access “Another Force,” which is a more powerful attack that brings you closer to winning.

These turn-based battles will be available throughout your quest, and they will demand an optimized party group with balanced roles across attackers, supporters, and healers. You’ll strive to fill your Another Force meter, which, when activated, unleashes a more powerful attack that slows down enemies and allows your party to finish the job.

Another Eden Begins’ roster seems pretty wholesome, with 19 companions you can unlock. Plus, a mysterious girl you’ll meet at the end of the main story, who ushers you into New Game+. Each character will have different backgrounds and abilities. And you’ll gradually meet them throughout your adventure, taking on character-specific quests to add them to your roster. You’ll also build deeper connections with them over time, which unlock additional kinship quests.

Development

Wright Flyer Studios and Studio Prisma are currently at the forefront of the development and publishing of Another Eden Begins. They have an official website up already, which reveals further information about the upcoming game.  The art style looks as lovely as always, with striking color palettes and sprite designs. There’s also more specific information about the time periods you’ll visit, from the present 300 AD, since the Kingdom of Miglance’s founding, the future 1,100 AD, where humans find refuge in the skies, called the Shining City of Elzion, and the past Antiquity 20,000 BC age. Every era has its unique lore and storyline, which will no doubt make for some profound adventures.

Overall, it’s a pretty capable team spearheading Another Eden Begins’ development. Masato Kato, the game’s director, for one, is known for Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, and Xenogears. Meanwhile, the theme song composer, Yasunori Mitsuda, has worked on the same games as Masato Kato.

Trailer

Another Eden Begins has an official announcement trailer, but a Nintendo Switch 2 trailer as well. The latter is, strangely, more detailed, showcasing the gameplay you can expect. It shows the new battle system, as well as a bold move from 2D to 3D movement. Movement was a little tricky in the mobile version. So, it’s nice to see it receive attention to feel more fluid. Porting to consoles will definitely come with its overhauls and ease of play, in addition to new content, and I just can’t wait to see what the final game brings. Perhaps the gacha system might not even be there, with the new game being offline.

From the quick glimpse at the gameplay footage, you can look forward to fast-paced, turn-based battles. Attacks vary from swordplay to elemental magic. And the enemies are varied, from ground to aerial creatures, as well as giant monsters for bosses. A much better system than the mobile version, for sure, with unique allies in appearance and stats, accumulated throughout history and beyond.
