Soulslike fans have a lot to look forward to in AI Limit. This upcoming game promises to deliver a flawless blend of relentless, strategy-based combat and an intriguing narrative riddled with mystery. Everything in the game transcends the ordinary, including the characters, enemies, weapons, and environments. Indeed, it is an ambitious game that aims to live up to the legacy of iconic Soulslike games like Code Vein.
AI Limit is still in development and will launch later in 2024. Fortunately, the game’s official announcement came with enough details to paint a clear picture. This comprehensive preview covers everything you need to know about AI Limit.
What is AI Limit?
AI Limit is a sci-fi action-RPG Soulslike game that takes you on a dangerous adventure through a dystopian future. Interestingly, the game is inspired by the iconic Soulslike game Code Vein, based on the subtle similarities between both games. It features everything you would expect in a Soulslike game, including a tragic and immersive narrative, a futuristic dystopian world, grotesque monsters, and sophisticated combat systems.
Story
AI Limit delivers an intriguing and tragic story woven with mysteries that unravel as you advance through the campaign. In the distant future, humanity relies on an artificial ecosystem to keep the world habitable. The artificial ecosystem mysteriously collapses without warning, unleashing all types of natural disasters. Wars ensue as people panic and scramble for limited vital resources, wiping out civilization.
A strange substance known as Mud appears many centuries later and spreads everything. Vicious and grotesque monsters spawn from the Mud and go on a rampage, attacking the few remaining survivors. However, there is hope, as one city called Havenswell still stands amidst the chaos and destruction. Naturally, all survivors follow the legend of the Elysium to Havenswell.
A new race of beings called Bladers emerges, created by a powerful and mysterious technology. They are fearless warriors on a mission to uncover the truth about civilization’s collapse and restore order. Technically, Bladers are immortal, as they can use devices called Branches to respawn after dying. Unfortunately, all Branches are destroyed, making Bladers vulnerable to death.
You play the role of a Blader called Arrisa. While your immediate mission is to find Branches and repair them, you must also exterminate monsters in your way, unravel the big mystery, and restore harmony and order to the world.
Gameplay
AI Limit’s gameplay design incorporates various fun and engaging activities. It most notably engages you in explosive fights with vicious monsters and intimidating bosses. Additionally, it takes you on an adventure as you explore various areas and environments in the dystopian world. Other activities include collecting items and customizing your character’s appearance and abilities.
Combat is the most exciting aspect of AI Limit’s gameplay. The monsters you fight come in diverse types and sizes. The lowest-ranking monsters are crazy beasts that evolved from human warriors who lost themselves. More formidable monsters include a flying machine covered with sharp blades and huge beasts that trample everything standing in their way. Notably, some enemies are incredibly challenging, and you will die and respawn several times before overcoming them.
Fortunately, you have various types of powerful weapons with which to fight the monsters. Moreover, every weapon gives you a unique fighting skill. As such, you can mix and match different weapons and skills to optimize their efficiency. Additionally, you can combine different combat systems to execute powerful combos.
Besides weapons, you also have impressive supernatural abilities that cause considerable damage to enemies. For example, you can cast multiple spells using a versatile gadget on your left hand.
Adventuring and storytelling are also integral aspects of the gameplay. You explore a grim and desolate world in search of answers to unravel the mystery behind the story. The answers you need are hidden in relics of the old civilization. The relics are scattered all over, and you can uncover their secrets using Arrisa’s special memory abilities.
In addition to answers, you must also find weapons, armor, and other collectible items as you adventure. Collectible items are hidden in grim alleyways, and you must be observant to spot them. Moreover, you can find items hidden in monsters’ clutches after defeating them. Collecting more items increases your abilities and boosts your overall fighting prowess.
Finally, character development and customization are also integral aspects of the game. On the one hand, you can develop your character’s skills and abilities by collecting more weapons and armor. On the other hand, you can customize her appearance using collectible items like clothes and wearable accessories.
AI Limit will sport excellent graphics for beautiful visuals and a smooth gaming experience. Additionally, it will feature an eerie atmosphere and haunting soundtracks to set the tone and make it feel more immersive.
