A Horizon Zero Dawn Movie Adaptation Is in the Works

Guerrilla Games’ award-winning action-RPG Horizon Zero Dawn is headed to the big screen as a full-blown, out-of-this-world movie adaptation. The film, while still largely under wraps, will reportedly feature a familiar origin story, which will primarily focus on the icy glaciers of Wyoming’s Yellowstone National Park, as well as a deeper dive into long-standing protagonist and bow-wielding heroine Aloy’s connection to the matriarchal culture of the Nora tribe. As for who will feature in this post-apocalyptic roster, however, is still somewhat unclear; the folks over at PlayStation Studios and Columbia Pictures are still in the early stages of its production.

In addition to the countless nominations Horizon Zero Dawn received in the aftermath of its 2017 debut, the game also went on to score several awards, including the Golden Joystick Award for PlayStation Game of the Year and Best Storytelling. Moreover, the fan favorite also went on to pick up an accolade for Excellence in Visual Achievement, as well as Most Promising New Intellectual Property, with the latter providing the momentum to span a second chapter in the timeline and some fresh DLC, to boot.

While the details on the upcoming movie adaptation are still relatively scarce, it’s safe to say that, with both PlayStation Studios and media giant Columbia Pictures manning the helm and working to collaborate on the intricacies of the source material, the project is certainly in safe hands. As for when this project will grace the screen is another question. Here’s hoping, then, that we’ll be hearing more about it in due course.
