5 Best Games Like Salt & Sacrifice

Those who have played Salt & Sacrifice can vouch for it as one of the best soulikes games. As the sequel to yet another legendary game, Salt and Sanctuary developers made sure not to disappoint their ever-growing fanbase. The game covers all the bases the fans had set their expectations on, and even includes some additional twists to it. Aside from a variety of fierce enemies, and a vast explorable world, it also features intense hunts across gigantic zones with boss hunts that can be re-done.

Players are tasked with hunting down mages to collect their hearts and equipment. They are also able to re-do certain Mage hunts to gain specific upgrades. After experiencing such gameplay most gamers would certainly go looking for other games like Salt & SacrificeFor that reason, we have compiled a list of some of the most fairly identical games that offer the same experience. Let's take a look at some of the best games like Salt & Sacrifice.

5. Eldest Souls

In Eldest Soul, the fate of mankind is under serious threat after the old gods cast an evil curse that has turned the world into a wasteland. It is up to one lone warrior to hunt down these gods and defeat them in order to rid the world of this curse. The game features incredible bosses that put up the toughest fights.

Aside from the main storyline, players can engage in sidequests as well as an additional expansion within the game. The incredible boss fights offer both exciting combat and strategic challenges which is an uncommon experience in most games. Players occasionally run into NPCs who offer more insight into the narrative of the game.

4. Monster Hunter: Rise

Like Salt & Sacrifice, players in Monster Hunter: Rise are tasked with a Hunter role where they have to capture or slay different large creatures. With the use of variant tools and weapons, they can cause enough damage and survive the battle long enough to win. The reward gained from a successful attack often consists of monster parts from the defeated enemy. Players can use these parts to forge new armor and weapons to hunt down even more fierce creatures. There are 14 types of weapons in Rise; all of which can be found in the all previous Monster Hunter series. These include a blend of swords, guns, staves, shields and bows.

The game features several incredibly identical aspects to Salt & Sacrifice. For instance, once players spot a mage in Salt & Sacrifice, they begin a chase. Once they catch up, they face each other in a fierce battle. Similarly, Rise players chase creatures across the map until they arrive at an arena where they ultimately face-off. The game has so much depth in terms of the enemies' diversity, such as the monsters inspired by Japanese folklore.

3. Death's Door

Death's Door is an action-adventure game that allows players to experience an incredible tale that is as bizarre as it is thrilling. In this case, players are represented by a small crow whose task is to collect souls for the Reaping Commission Headquarters. This crow travels through numerous different areas defeating various monsters and reaping away their souls. The first mission involves hunting down a monster who refuses to willingly join the afterlife, however, as soon as the crow defeats the monster, an older crow steals the soul for themselves. The older crow then tasks the small crow with a new mission which is to open Death's Door. To do this players need to hunt down three Giant Souls located in three different dungeons.

More events unfold throughout the game including a conspiracy about fellow crows going missing. Players have access to a variety of weapons including, magic and projectiles that allow both short-range and long-range attacks. There is plenty of adventure to be experienced and puzzles to solve; not to mention an array of tough bosses to deal with. Like Salt & Sacrifice, Death's Door consists of a variety of interesting creatures and characters.

2. Nioh 2

Team Ninja’s Nioh 2 is among the best games like Salt & Sacrifice and is more suitable for players who can't get enough of boss fights. Mainly because the game is divided into several distinct levels and hosts up to 60 bosses. In addition, the multiplayer feature allows for players to add two friends to the game. This is done through a summoning performed at a specific location, known as “Benevolent Graves.” Players create their own character, customizing every detail to their liking; which includes their choice of weapon, attire and combat style. As they advance through the game as supernatural samurai warriors, they continue to gain more abilities and skills.

This action RPG allows players to explore Japan during its dark Sengoku times as well as the dark realms on its map. Players may sometimes collect Soul Cores after defeating hostile Yokai enemies. This in turn enables them to transform into fully-fledged Yokai, able to unleash the most powerful attacks on enemies.

1. Hollow Knight

Hollow Knight has fans hooked on its adventures so much so, that they cannot wait for the game's upcoming sequel; thus this is not a game one would wish to miss. Here, players take the role of an insect-like Knight who explores a disease-plagued kingdom known as the Hallownest. Subsequently, amid their exploration, players face numerous bosses and aggressive bug-like enemies. The Knight can use a variety of attacks to hit their target, such as the Nail for striking a close enemy, and magic spells for long-range attacks.

As they explore numerous different locations players get the chance to unlock new abilities as they learn new spells.
