Supermassive Games Reveals New Horror Experience, The Quarry

Supermassive Games, a firm known for developing next-level horror games, has lifted the lid on a brand new project, The Quarry,Β which is expected to receive the full unveiling treatment tomorrow (March 17). But what can we expect from the new journey, and how will it slot into Supermassive’s busy schedule of grinding out chapters for its universally acclaimed Dark Pictures Anthology?

Of course, it is worth pointing out that The Quarry, contrary to popular belief, is not the next chapter in The Dark Pictures timeline. This is, more or less, a secondary project that is being published under the 2K banner. The Devil In Me, however, is scripted to launch later this year. So, two completely different IPs.

What is The Quarry?

Although very little has been given away in the Twitter post, it’s evident that The Quarry will gravitate toward the eighties slasher flick style. As for the story, all we’ve been given is a few minor details. Talks of a car veering off-road after clocking a mysterious presence; the bread and butter of any classic thriller. It’s all there, and Supermassive will once again do all in their power to deliver a quality experience for all.

Unfortunately, the game’s platforms have yet to be announced. However, we can only imagine that it will launch on all major consoles, both current and ex. It’s also unclear whether or not the game will release this year, or if it’s a good few years away yet. Whatever the case, we’ll learn more tomorrow when Supermassive unravels it.

You can watch the official reveal for The Quarry at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 4pm GMT tomorrow.
