You’re stuck somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. Each time you boot up a new run, you’ll run into different life-threatening scenarios. Through it all, you explore a tropical paradise, discovering exciting environments and doing everything it takes to survive.
The development team has released very few details about the sequel. At the very least, the themes of scavenging and survival are more likely to remain. However, whether you’ll be exploring an entirely new setting that tells a different story remains unconfirmed.
Story
Beam Team Games is currently holding on to the story you can expect in the final game. It’s unsurprising, as the sequel is still in its very early stages of development. The developing team may still be figuring out whether to continue with the story of the first game or create a brand-new tale. If they were to pick up from where the first game left off, the story could take an interesting turn.
The game ends with players finding an abandoned plane. All they need to do is repair the aircraft and escape the Pacific. Okay, the ending was probably not the best way to wrap up the game. And if the sequel were to pick up from the first game, then the escape plane would crash someplace else, perhaps on a snowy mountain, perhaps? The plot for Stranded Deep 2 is pretty much based on speculation, with the developer having the final say on the direction they plan to take.
Gameplay
The gameplay in sequels rarely changes much. So, based on the first game, you can probably expect a survival adventure. You’ll likely explore an open-world setting, gathering supplies. Thereafter, you’ll likely use the supplies to craft useful weapons and gear. Moreover, you’ll likely build a shelter for protection while also scavenging for food and water. Your main goal will likely be to stay alive, with plenty of potentially life-threatening scenarios coming your way.
Stranded Deep received pretty high critical acclaim. Its survival and crafting mechanics were simply top-notch. From harvesting crops to hunting for food, you truly feel like you are surviving on your last dime. You could even build your own sails and boat motors, pushing you to explore all possible survival measures.
The first game already nailed surviving on the Pacific islands. So, Stranded Deep 2 may want to avoid reinventing the wheel. Still, a new setting couldn’t hurt. Also, multiplayer with crossplay and cross-platform could further enhance the gameplay.
Development
Stranded Deep fans have been itching for a sequel for a while now. It’s been nine years now, and Beam Team Games is finally ready to let us in on their current projects. In a recent announcement, the developer revealed that they have been busy preparing for the development of Stranded Deep 2. In collaboration with North Beach Games, the studio announced that they are now ready to begin development on the sequel. Moreover, they revealed that Stranded Deep creator Sam Edwards has joined North Beach Games as Creative Director and CTO and that the sequel will be developed in North Beach Games’ new studio based in Prague.
“We’re excited to share more information with you about Stranded Deep 2 as soon as we can,” reads the press release. “We’ve learned a lot since we started developing Stranded Deep all those years ago, and we hope you’ll join us on this new adventure! For now, our heads are down, and we are focusing on the early development phase.” The press release did not disclose any information on the story or gameplay of the upcoming game. It seems development has only just begun, and the way forward could go either way.
Beam Team Games is an indie developer based in Australia. The studio develops games for PC platforms and is best known for its prosperous work in Stranded Deep. North Beach Games, on the other hand, is an indie publisher that is evolving into a game developer. Some of the studio’s popular works include 7 Days to Die and The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria. The studio has just launched a new studio in Prague that will spearhead the development of Stranded Deep 2.

Ob der Nachfolger sich nun im Entwicklungsprozess verzettelt und eine Ewigkeit braucht, um bei uns anzukommen, bleibt eine Frage der Debatte. Im Moment können wir uns nur auf sein Erscheinen freuen und die bisherigen Mitteilungen des Entwicklungsteams im Auge behalten. Hier ist alles, was wir über Stranded Deep 2 wissen.
Was ist Stranded Deep 2?
Stranded Deep 2 ist ein kommendes Survival- und Crafting-Spiel. Es wird dort ansetzen, wo Stranded Deep aufgehört hat. Kurze Zusammenfassung: Das erste Spiel versetzte die Spieler in die Rolle eines Überlebenden eines Flugzeugabsturzes. Man strandet irgendwo im Pazifischen Ozean. Jedes Mal, wenn man einen neuen Durchlauf startet, stößt man auf verschiedene lebensbedrohliche Szenarien. Dabei erkundet man ein tropisches Paradies, entdeckt aufregende Umgebungen und tut alles, um zu überleben.
Das Entwicklungsteam hat nur sehr wenige Details zum Nachfolger veröffentlicht. Zumindest werden die Themen des Sammelns und Überlebens höchstwahrscheinlich erhalten bleiben. Ob man jedoch eine völlig neue Umgebung erkunden wird, die eine andere Geschichte erzählt, bleibt unbestätigt.
Handlung
Beam Team Games hält sich mit der Handlung, die man im fertigen Spiel erwarten kann, derzeit noch bedeckt. Das ist nicht überraschend, da sich der Nachfolger noch in einem sehr frühen Entwicklungsstadium befindet. Das Entwicklungsteam könnte noch dabei sein, herauszufinden, ob es die Geschichte des ersten Spiels fortsetzen oder eine völlig neue Erzählung schaffen soll. Wenn sie dort ansetzen würden, wo das erste Spiel endete, könnte die Handlung eine interessante Wendung nehmen.
Das Spiel endet damit, dass die Spieler ein verlassenes Flugzeug finden. Alles, was sie tun müssen, ist, das Flugzeug zu reparieren und dem Pazifik zu entkommen. Okay, das Ende war wahrscheinlich nicht die beste Art, das Spiel abzuschließen. Und wenn der Nachfolger an das erste Spiel anknüpfen würde, dann würde das Fluchtflugzeug woanders abstürzen, vielleicht auf einem schneebedeckten Berg? Die Handlung für Stranded Deep 2 basiert größtenteils auf Spekulationen, wobei der Entwickler das letzte Wort über die geplante Richtung hat.
Gameplay
Das Gameplay ändert sich in Fortsetzungen selten stark. Basierend auf dem ersten Spiel kann man also wahrscheinlich ein Survival-Abenteuer erwarten. Wahrscheinlich erkundet man eine Open-World-Umgebung und sammelt Vorräte. Anschließend wird man diese Vorräte wahrscheinlich nutzen, um nützliche Waffen und Ausrüstung herzustellen. Darüber hinaus wird man wahrscheinlich einen Schutzunterstand bauen und gleichzeitig nach Nahrung und Wasser suchen. Das Hauptziel wird wahrscheinlich sein, am Leben zu bleiben, wobei einem viele potenziell lebensbedrohliche Szenarien begegnen werden.
Stranded Deep erhielt ziemlich hohe kritische Anerkennung. Seine Survival- und Crafting-Mechaniken waren einfach erstklassig. Vom Anbau von Feldfrüchten bis zur Nahrungssuche fühlte man sich wirklich, als würde man ums nackte Überleben kämpfen. Man konnte sogar eigene Segel und Bootsmotoren bauen, was einen dazu antrieb, alle möglichen Überlebensmaßnahmen zu erkunden.
Das erste Spiel hatte das Überleben auf den pazifischen Inseln bereits perfektioniert. Daher möchte Stranded Deep 2 vielleicht nicht das Rad neu erfinden. Dennoch könnte eine neue Umgebung nicht schaden. Außerdem könnten Multiplayer mit Crossplay und Cross-Plattform das Gameplay weiter verbessern.
Entwicklung
Fans von Stranded Deep sehnen sich schon seit einer Weile nach einem Nachfolger. Es sind nun neun Jahre vergangen, und Beam Team Games ist endlich bereit, uns Einblick in ihre aktuellen Projekte zu gewähren. In einer kürzlichen Ankündigung verriet der Entwickler, dass sie damit beschäftigt waren, die Entwicklung von Stranded Deep 2 vorzubereiten. In Zusammenarbeit mit North Beach Games gab das Studio bekannt, dass sie nun bereit sind, mit der Entwicklung des Nachfolgers zu beginnen. Darüber hinaus teilten sie mit, dass Stranded Deep -Schöpfer Sam Edwards North Beach Games als Creative Director und CTO beigetreten ist und dass der Nachfolger im neuen Studio von North Beach Games in Prag entwickelt wird.
“Wir freuen uns darauf, Ihnen so bald wie möglich mehr Informationen über Stranded Deep 2 mitzuteilen”, heißt es in der Pressemitteilung. “Wir haben viel gelernt, seit wir vor all den Jahren mit der Entwicklung von Stranded Deep begonnen haben, und wir hoffen, dass Sie uns auf diesem neuen Abenteuer begleiten werden! Im Moment sind wir konzentriert bei der Arbeit und fokussieren uns auf die frühe Entwicklungsphase.” Die Pressemitteilung enthüllte keine Informationen zur Handlung oder zum Gameplay des kommenden Spiels. Es scheint, dass die Entwicklung gerade erst begonnen hat und der Weg nach vorne noch offen ist.
Beam Team Games ist ein in Australien ansässiger Independent-Entwickler. Das Studio entwickelt Spiele für PC-Plattformen und ist vor allem für seine erfolgreiche Arbeit an Stranded Deep bekannt. North Beach Games hingegen ist ein Independent-Publisher, der sich zu einem Spieleentwickler weiterentwickelt. Zu den bekannten Werken des Studios gehören 7 Days to Die und The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria. Das Studio hat gerade ein neues Studio in Prag eröffnet, das die Entwicklung von Stranded Deep 2 vorantreiben wird.

Stranded Deep 2 wurde gerade erst angekündigt, daher ist es nicht überraschend, dass wir noch keinen Handlungs- oder Gameplay-Trailer erhalten haben. Beam Team Games verspricht jedoch, so bald wie möglich neue Updates zu teilen. Wir werden definitiv ein Auge darauf haben.
Veröffentlichungsdatum, Plattformen & Editionen
Wie bei Handlung, Gameplay und Trailer ist auch das Veröffentlichungsdatum noch unbekannt. Dasselbe gilt für die Plattformen. Wenn wir jedoch spekulieren dürfen, wird der Nachfolger wahrscheinlich auf denselben Plattformen wie das erste Spiel erscheinen, darunter PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, macOS und PC-Plattformen.
