Remedy Entertainment Announces Control 2 is in Development in a Big-budget Partnership with 505 Games

Remedy Entertainment has revealed that a sequel to the popular science fiction action game, Control is in development. According to the announcement, Remedy has signed an agreement with 505 Games to co-develop and co-publish the game.
The developer has previously revealed that it was working on two games, including a multiplayer spin-off and Codename Heron. However, the developer didn’t announce the sequel to Control. The two companies announced in a statement on Friday that the Codename Heron is officially Control 2. According to a statement, the game will be based on Remedy's Northlight engine. The game will launch for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Remedy Entertainment will publish the PC version, while 505 Games will publish the console version.
In June 2021, Remedy revealed they were working on a “bigger-budget Control game.” Remedy said that there is an “initial development budget” of 50 million Euros for the game's development due to the partnership with 505 Games.
“I’m now proud to confirm that the bigger-budget Control game, also known as Codename Heron, is Control 2, a full-blown sequel,” said Remedy chief executive Tero Virtala.

The game is still in the conceptual phase. Therefore, we don’t expect any more information for some time. Game director Mikael Kasurinen said, “It’ll take a while, but to put it mildly, this is the most exciting project I’ve ever worked on. It’s still early days, but it will be worth the wait.”
Remedy Entertainment is also working on three other games, including Alan Wake 2, a sequel to its 2010 mystery thriller. The developer is also working on remasters of the first two Max Payne games in collaboration with Rockstar games. Additionally, Remedy is co-working on a free-to-play multiplayer shooter with Chinese media behemoth Tencent. The developer is yet to announce details on the release dates for these projects.
The original Control game launched in 2019. Control 2 will launch for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
