Remedy Entertainment Announces Max Payne 1 + 2 Remake

Updated on

Remedy Entertainment has announced a full-blown remake of Max Payne and Max Payne 2 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

The whiskey-loving murdering machine, globally known as Max Payne, will be making a return to consoles in the foreseeable future. That's according to Remedy Entertainment, who announced the news on Twitter just yesterday (April 6). Although the project is still in the “concept development stage”, it has been confirmed that both games will come bundled together.

Max Payne 1 + 2 Remake will be built using Remedy Entertainment's in-house Northlight engine, which was also used to help craft both Quantum Break and the award-winning Control. Rockstar Games, as expected, will be the firm to finance the project.

“We are massive fans of the work the Remedy team has created over the years, and we can’t wait to play these new versions,” Rockstar founder Sam Houser commented on the announcement.

Remedy CEO Tero Virtala added…

“We’re hugely excited to be working with our partners at Rockstar Games once again for the chance to bring the story, action and atmosphere of the original Max Payne games back to players in new ways,” Remedy's CEO Tero Virtala said.

As far as release windows go, that has yet to be confirmed. However, we do know that the Max Payne 1+2 Remake will be coming to PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. Here's hoping Rockstar Games or Remedy let slip a few more details in the near future. Until then, we'll just have to hover over the drawing board.

You can, of course, follow Remedy Entertainment over on their official social handle here. Should anything pop up in the meantime, we'll be sure to let you know.

So, what's your take? Will you be picking up the Remake bundle when it drops? Let us know over on our socials here or down in the comments below.
