Mirage 7: Everything We Know

Avatar photo

Drakkar Dev and Blowfish Studios are gearing up to launch Mirage 7 soon. It’s the perfect game for gamers who like a fairy tale style of narration but also cannot part with lurking danger. The upcoming game promises a constant sense of dread that creates urgency in your journey. Moreover, you’ll face challenges along the way, whether from the harsh environment around you or fearsome beasts who want you dead. Fortunately, you’ll have a companion by your side: a cute little pet lizard to keep you company in the toughest of times. Intrigued yet? Check out everything we know about Mirage 7 below.

What is Mirage 7?

Nadira - Mirage 7

Mirage 7 is an upcoming dark fairytale, third-person adventure game. It’ll feature both fantasy and sci-fi elements in its environments and gameplay. Starring in the game is Nadira, a young woman who traverses an arid world. Jiji, a pet lizard, accompanies her on her journey. The duo face challenges and fight enemies on their way to locating a lost oasis, which is the last remaining hope of saving Nadira’s sister.

Story

Mirage 7 takes place in a desert, where a reconnaissance drone has just crashed from the sky. The drone has led to the discovery of a hidden underground military base. From the base, a puzzling “hybrid” awakes. Meanwhile, during another time and world, Nadira, a young woman, and her pet lizard, Jiji, traverse an arid land in search of a lost oasis. They search for the oasis, hoping to cure Nadira’s dead sister, Jala. Upon reaching the oasis, though, they run into the Lost Princess, Taishma. The princess has been locked away in the Moon Palace, and only she can grant Nadira her wish to save her little sister. Overall, the arid deserts you’ll journey through draw inspiration from Arabian Nights. You’ll control Nadira as she traverses across the deserts, solving cryptic puzzles and fighting enemies. Further, you’ll discover secrets that lead to a more profound dark fairy tale.

Gameplay

lizard Jiji and Nadira

Mirage 7’s gameplay is a blend of dark fairytale storytelling and third-person adventure. It infuses fantasy and sci-fi elements in its narrative and gameplay. Check out the key features you can expect in the final game below.

  • Unravel a compelling dark fairy tale that focuses on myth and narration.
  • Face challenges in the desert in the form of environmental puzzles that you must survive through.
  • Collect valuable items on your journey that allow you to craft useful tools to take on unique challenges.
  • Fight fearsome beasts and enemies, tapping into both melee and ranged-based combat.

It’s unclear how much influence your pet lizard, Jiji, will have on the story and gameplay. Perhaps Jiji will have a deep story arc, complete with character development. He may also aid you in combat, helping you fight smaller enemies while you focus on bosses. Still, it’s possible you may be able to switch characters from Hadira to Jiji mid-battle, which will certainly add an extra layer of depth to combat.

Development

Mirage 7

Developer Drakkar Dev and publisher Blowfish Studios are currently working on Mirage 7. Drakkar Dev is a gaming studio created in 2010 by Domenico Gallo and Manlio Greco. They are based in Catania, Italy. You probably know Drakkar Dev from their work in developing War Tech Fighters, Clash of Puppets, Blackwind, and more. They pride themselves on using third-party game engines to develop games for PCs and consoles. Blowfish Studios, on the other hand, is a renowned indie game developer and publisher. They make fun games for VR, consoles, mobile, and PC. Blowfish Studios has teamed up with Drakkar Dev before, including in bringing Blackwind to PC and consoles. They have the Anarkade game coming up, too, on September 24, 2024.

As for the development progress, Blowfish Studios promises more teasers coming soon. So, be sure to stay tuned to their socials so you do not miss a beat. With development on the “teasers” stage, it’s likely Drakkar Dev still has a long way to go. Their socials haven’t been consistent with updates, which isn’t surprising given the first announcement was just made a few days ago. In any case, Drakkar Dev and Blowfish Studios have proven to be a solid team with Blackwind. So, Mirage 7 is definitely in capable hands.

Trailer

Mirage 7’s official teaser trailer is out now on YouTube. It offers a sneak peek into the story and gameplay you can expect in the final game. While brief, you get a rough idea of the visuals, which look dreamy and vibrant. The environments certainly look detailed, with immersive biomes. Even in the desert areas, the graphics still look stunning. Of course, this is only a teaser video that may contain pre-rendered footage. Still, it lets us in on quite enough information to munch on ahead of launch. I mean, we even catch a glimpse of the gameplay, which seems to incorporate melee combat using a fire stick, puzzle-solving by moving platforms around, and environmental storytelling.
