Level Zero: Extraction — Everything We Know

If you ever dreamt of playing a game that mixes the intense action of Escape from Tarkov with the eerie atmosphere of Alien: Isolation, then Level Zero: Extraction is for you. Imagine being thrust into a world where every shadow hides a deadly alien, and every corner could be your last. The tension is constant, and the thrill of survival keeps your heart racing. You’re not just fighting AI enemies but also real players, all while trying to extract valuable loot and escape alive. The stakes are high, and the dangers are real. But, what challenges await you in the dark corners of this world? Can you trust your fellow players, or will they betray you for valuable loot? Well, if you are left with the same questions, here's everything we know so far about Level Zero: Extraction.
What is Level Zero: Extraction?
In short, Level Zero: Extraction is described by the developers as “multiplayer extraction horror with tactical FPS combat and immersive dark atmosphere.” As mentioned above, this upcoming game aims to blend the heart-pounding tension of survival horror with the strategic depth of tactical shooters. Players will engage in high-stakes raids, facing off against both human adversaries and AI-controlled enemies in a bid to gather valuable loot and escape alive.
Furthermore, Level Zero: Extraction sets itself apart by offering two distinct roles: elite PMC mercenaries and deadly alien monsters. Mercenaries, equipped with an array of military-grade weapons and gadgets, must work together to survive and complete their missions. Conversely, players who choose the alien role will utilize unique abilities and supernatural powers to hunt the mercenaries.
Additionally, the core game revolves around completing dangerous raids, collecting loot, and extracting safely. Players must navigate through dark, treacherous environments, where threats can emerge at any moment. The blend of PvP and PvE elements means that danger is omnipresent, from rival players to unpredictable environmental hazards. Ultimately, the game promises a gripping, high-risk adventure where survival depends on quick thinking, strategic planning, and adaptability.
Story
Level Zero: Extraction will plunge players into a world filled with danger and suspense. The devs have not shared anything about the story, but they have confirmed that there won't be a story mode at the time of launch in Early Access. In the game, you play as elite mercenaries on dangerous missions to collect valuable loot. These missions are full of threats from rival players, AI enemies, and various hazards. Alternatively, you can play as powerful alien monsters whose only weakness is light.
Gameplay
In Level Zero: Extraction, players can eagerly anticipate a mix of tactical FPS combat and survival horror. As mercenaries, they will team up with up to two other players to confront rival mercenaries and alien monsters. First and foremost, the combat promises to be intense, featuring a variety of military-grade firearms and advanced prototypes. Players will be able to customize their guns with attachments to fit their personal style. Additionally, melee combat will be brutal, involving weapons like axes, swords, and sledgehammers. Moreover, players can expect to explore diverse maps, each with its own unique dangers and lore.
The extraction phase, on the other hand, will be crucial for success. Players will need to find and secure valuable loot such as weapons, resources, and tradeable items. Extracting these items safely will be key to progress. Consequently, completing contracts will help players grow their reputation with traders, unlocking powerful equipment.
However, players will face not only rival mercenaries and alien monsters but also AI enemies like mutants, automated turrets, live wires, and mines. To aid in survival, players will have access to gadgets such as motion detectors and remote door controls. Crafting stations, meanwhile, will enable them to make ammo, weapons, healing items, and unique syringes. Even in death, players can continue to support their team by playing as flying surveillance drones. Light will play a crucial role since it's the only way to kill player-controlled aliens, using flares, flashlights, and other tools.
Also, playing as an alien monster will offer a distinct experience. Aliens will use abilities like toxic spit, invisibility, scream, and EMP waves to hunt humans. They will, however, need to avoid light sources, as they are deadly to aliens. And cooperating with another alien will allow for coordinated attacks.
