Lego Party: Everything We Know

Snowboarding LEGO Party minifigs in winter race

There’s a new party game coming this year, and it’s called LEGO Party. If you’ve seen the announcement or heard about it from friends, you’re probably wondering what exactly this game is, how it plays, and when you can get your hands on it. It’s being talked about for its mix of classic LEGO themes, 4-player multiplayer, and a big variety of fun and fast-paced minigames.

With support for cross-platform play, online and couch co-op, character customization, and physical editions, there’s a lot to look forward to. If you’re planning a game night or just looking for a fun party game to try, here’s everything we know about LEGO Party! so far.

What is LEGO Party?

LEGO Party! is an upcoming 1-4 player party game where you compete in short, fast-paced minigames set in different LEGO-themed worlds. It’s built for fun with friends — whether you’re playing on the couch or online. The game includes popular LEGO sets like LEGO Pirates and LEGO Space each bringing their own unique style to the action. The goal is simple: win Golden Bricks by outplaying your opponents across a bunch of wild and silly challenges.

It’s not a serious or competitive game. It’s meant to be light, chaotic, and funny – something you can jump into for a good time. You’ll be able to customize your own minifigure using pieces from across LEGO’s history, and play however you want, whether solo or with others. It’s a casual party game that brings the fun of LEGO to life through minigames and simple, easy-to-learn gameplay.

Will There Be a Story?

So far, no official story mode has been confirmed for LEGO Party, and honestly, it doesn’t seem like the kind of game that needs one. This isn’t your usual LEGO adventure with cutscenes and quests. It’s all about jumping into wild mini-games with your friends and going for gold. Instead of a traditional story, LEGO Party focuses on player-driven chaos. You create your own stories through competition, traps, sabotages, and hilarious moments.

LEGO Party Gameplay

LEGO Party is shaping up to be a fast, fun, and fully chaotic multiplayer experience built around what we all love most about LEGO — creativity, unpredictability, and pure fun. The developers at SMG Studio have confirmed that the game will feature 60 wild and colorful mini-games, each set in crazy LEGO-themed zones. These aren’t just simple button-mashing games either.

At the heart of LEGO Party is the hunt for Golden Bricks. Every mini-game you play is a chance to grab more of these bricks and move closer to victory. But it’s not just about being the fastest or smartest. The devs have confirmed that players will have access to power-ups to gain the upper hand, and can even set up traps to mess with their friends. It’s that mix of competitive edge and unexpected mayhem that gives the game its party vibe.

One of the coolest things for a game night is how flexible LEGO Party is. You can play solo against bots, get into couch co-op with friends and family, or head online for some cross-platform multiplayer mayhem with up to four players. It doesn’t matter if your squad is on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, or Switch — everyone can join in. And joining games is easy too: you can host, invite, or simply share a lobby code.

And let’s not forget the character customization. The devs say there are over 1 billion minifigure combinations. That means you’re not stuck with generic characters – you can create something truly your own using pieces from classic LEGO sets like NINJAGO, Pirates, and more. You get to show off your custom minifig while dodging traps and competing with and aginst others. That’s part of what makes LEGO Party feel like more than just another party game.

Development

LEGO Party is being developed by SMG Studio, a team known for fun, quirky games (they made Moving Out and Death Squared). It’s published by Fictions, a new game publisher founded by industry vets. The LEGO Group is of course involved, and the whole project was announced in partnership with these teams. For collectors, there will even be a physical release: iam8bit is handling physical editions for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox.
