Game of Thrones: Kingsroad Closed Beta Test Announced

South Korean game studio Netmarble is gearing up to launch the Closed Beta Test for its latest “story-driven” action-RPG Game of Thrones: Kingsroad.

Since making its formal debut at The Game Awards 2024, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, a mobile-based RPG at heart, fans of the HBO franchise have poured numerous emotions into the cauldron, some of which have been predominantly positive, some, on the other hand, disappointingly low. The reasoning behind the lack of confidence in the project regrettably boils down to its chosen platforms, Android and iOS, both of which barely come close to being able to replicate the magical essence of much larger TV and movie adaptations. Case in point, Hogwarts Legacy went on to garner copious amounts of attention due to it being available across both Xbox and PlayStation, whereas one of its smaller mobile spin-offs, Hogwarts Mystery, for example, often failed to live up to the hype and attract the target audience in its entirety. Unfortunately, it’s more or less the same case with Game of Thrones: Kingsroad.

How to Join the Game of Thrones: Kingsroad Closed Beta Test

Of course, it wouldn’t be fair to judge a book by its cover, for Game of Thrones: Kingsroad does, in fact, feature some pretty interesting ingredients, including but not necessarily limited to a casket of legacy characters, s vast open-world sandbox, and a “story-driven” campaign that will, according to the creators, bring additional lore to the existing HBO marvel. To that end, there is plenty to look forward to, and, as it turns out, fans of the series won’t have to wait all that long to get their hands on it, thanks to the upcoming Closed Beta Test that’s currently due to take place between January 16th and 22nd.
