Visually, the game features a smooth animation style complete with stellar explosive effects. When coupled hand-in-hand with the game’s in-depth RPG systems, players can form a variety of character builds.
This type of mechanic has been employed well in games such as Hades, as players can greatly affect each playthrough of a particular dungeon. Players can use a plethora of melee weapons as well. In addition to this, the game does a great job of slowly progressing the use of more in-depth mechanics. Aiding the player in their journey is the game’s weapon customization and upgrade systems.
These systems do a fantastic job of ensuring the player always has a sense of progression as they continue through the game. The over-the-shoulder perspective the game uses also gives players a great sense of awareness and visceral visuals. This somewhat reaches a balance that can be felt as you play the game.
Development
The development of the roguelite Dark Light: Survivor seems to be progressing well. While there is very little information about he game that has been made public, the announcement trailer seems promising. The Australian developer Mirari & Co is behind this title, as they were with the original Dark Light.
It is hoped by many that the fast-paced hack-and-slash gameplay that makes that title so great will also make an appearance here. This seems to be the case if the game’s trailer is anything to go by. The combat variety is also something that we have seen the developers handle really well in their previous titles. As of writing this, we have yet to see how the game is progressing, but it appears to be in good hands.
