Until Dawn 2024: How to Keep Matt Alive

Matt has a big heart and is a people pleaser. He is always ready to help, and his actions help save several people in the game. Unfortunately, he is one of the most difficult characters to keep alive in Until Dawn 2024. He becomes at risk of dying several times from various causes in the game, and he often has to think and act fast to stay alive. Keeping Matt alive is difficult but not impossible. It is also fulfilling, considering that he is an all-around nice guy. Here is an exhaustive guide on how to keep Matt alive in Until Dawn 2024.
Keeping Matt Alive in Chapter 5

Matt’s life isn’t actually at risk in Chapter Five. However, his decisions can affect his likelihood of surviving later in Chapter Six. In this Until Dawn 2024, chapter, Matt and Emily head to the cable car station only to find it in ruins. They discover that the Psycho destroyed the station and stole the keys. As such, Emily suggests that they go to the fire tower to signal for help.
Matt has the option to agree or disagree with Emily’s proposal to go to the fire tower. Matt should disagree with Emily to improve his likelihood of surviving later. Notably, Emily forces Matt to head to the fire tower regardless of the decision he makes.
Disagreeing with Emily gives Matt one extra dialogue option in Chapter Six, making it easier to survive. In contrast, agreeing with Emily takes away one dialogue point, making it harder (but not impossible) for Matt to survive in Chapter Six.
Keeping Matt Alive in Chapter 6

Chapter Six is the most risky chapter for Matt. There are two potential instances when he can die. Moreover, certain decisions he makes at the beginning of the chapter considerably affect his likelihood of surviving later in the same chapter.
The first potential danger to Matt’s life in Chapter Six comes from a herd of deer. The herd walks towards Matt and Emily, who are standing at the edge of a cliff. Naturally, Matt is concerned that the deer could knock them off the edge. As such, you get an optional prompt to attack the deer with an axe.
Attacking the deer is a potentially risky decision. An attack only spooks the herd, which knocks Matt and Emily over the edge. Fortunately, Matt grabs onto the ledge. However, he must react quickly and complete all QTEs to climb back to safety. If not, Matt falls to his death. In contrast, the deer don’t notice Matt if he ignores them and walks past. As such, it is wise to ignore the deer and avoid the trouble altogether.
Matt and Emily go to the fire tower after leaving the edge of the cliff. Emily finds a flare gun, and it is her decision to either keep it or give it to Matt. It is advisable to give the gun to Matt when playing Emily.
This is where Matt’s decision in Chapter Five comes into play. He can either fire the flare gun immediately after getting it or hold onto it, depending on his decision. Matt will fire the gun immediately if he agrees to follow Emily to the fire tower. In contrast, he will hold onto it if he disagrees. Notably, Matt can use the gun later in the chapter to save his life if he holds onto it.
The second danger to Matt’s life comes when a Wendigo cuts the cable cords to the tower. Matt survives the fall while Emily holds onto a loose steel railing for dear life. Mat must decide whether to save Emily or jump on a nearby ledge, letting her fall.
If Matt decides to save Emily, both of them fall, and he ends up alone in a cave. A Wendigo finds him in the cave and starts dragging him to his death. However, Matt can fire the flare gun to scare the Wendigo away if he still has it. If not, the Wendigo kills Matt in Until Dawn 2024, a gruesome way. As such, don’t attempt to save Emily if you don’t have the flare gun. You will not encounter a Wendigo if you jump on the ledge. Besides, Emily still survives the fall even if you don’t try to save her.
Keeping Matt Alive in Chapter 10

Matt’s life is in danger one last time in Chapter Ten. His survival depends on his decisions and whether or not he meets Jessica. Jessica finds Matt first if she survived, and the two start trying to find their way out of the cave. Jessica is heavily injured and depends on Matt to guide her.
The two come across a Wendigo. Jessica cannot run because she is heavily injured. As such, Matt has the option to run and leave her behind or help her hide. Matt should choose to hide. Moreover, he must pass a QTE to Don’t Move Challenge to stop Jessica from moving and getting the Wendigo’s attention. Notably, both characters die if Matt fails the challenge and QTE.
Matt and Jessica continue searching for a way out when the Wendigo moves on. However, they come across another Wendigo, and Matt must once again decide whether to hide with Jessica or run away. Again, Matt should choose to hide. Moreover, he must pass a QTE challenge to avoid moving and getting the Wendigo’s attention. Alternatively, he can run and leave Jessica behind, but he must pass a QTE to get away from the pursuing Wendigo.
If Jessica is dead, Matt must find his way out of the cave alone. He still comes across Wendigo two times and must decide whether to hide or run. He can run or hide and still survive. Moreover, he must complete several QTEs and Don’t Move Challenges to survive, regardless of whether he runs or hides. Finally, Matt comes out alive if he passes the QTEs and challenges.
