Redecor’s Natalie Gal Talks Real World Beauty – Interview Series

Redecor, Wellness Retreat

Redecor, the world’s most immersive interior design simulation game on Android and iOS, has just launched Real World Beauty—a “realistic” collection of authentic add-ons that users can implement in their own pocket-sized digital homes. According to the team behind the mobile-based app, the latest patch will be bringing a new layer of authenticity to the table — coffee stains included, from the sounds of it.

Curious to learn more about the latest update on the game, I decided to speak with the Director of Content, Natalie Gal of the Redecor team.

Thanks for sitting down and speaking with us today, Natalie — we really appreciate it.
Firstly, would you mind introducing yourself to our readers and telling us a bit about your involvement with the Redecor team?

Natalie: I’m Natalie Gal, Director of Content at Redecor. I’ve been with the game for about 4 years and lead a team of 25, including design experts, 3D artists, architects, and writers. Together, we shape everything from the monthly season themes and storylines to daily design challenges, materials, and in-game events — all the elements that bring Redecor to life.

Let’s go ahead and unbox Redecor. Walk us through the inception process of building this project, if you’d be so kind. What inspired you to create an interactive game based on pocket-sized interior design?

Natalie: Redecor is currently celebrating its 5th anniversary. Launched during the COVID lockdown, it quickly gained momentum as people turned to design and gaming for comfort and creativity. From the start, the goal was to offer a space to design, experiment, and get inspired through a global, connected community. Since then, we’ve continued to evolve based on player feedback and market trends, expanding beyond interiors into fashion, beauty, and lifestyle. A partnership with Revlon helped open that door, and players have embraced the broader design experience — from home decor to makeup, jewelry, and more.

Tell us a bit more about how the game works. What is our purpose here, and how exactly does one go about bringing their vision to the canvas?

Natalie: Redecor is a realistic design simulation game where players can express their style by personalizing spaces, fashion scenes, beauty products, food, and more. Designs are submitted for live community voting, making feedback a key part of the experience. It’s a supportive space that encourages inspiration, relaxation, and skill-building — many players see it as more than a game – they see a creative community.

We’re excited to hear more about your latest collection, Real World, and how it will bring more of an authentic feel to the experience. Would you mind telling us more about these newly implemented features and how they compare to the existing ones?

Natalie: This month, we launched our first-ever “real world” collection, featuring seven imperfect design materials. Redecor has always offered a realistic design experience, but this time we leaned into the everyday imperfections people live with — like a stained rug, a scratched sofa, or kids' drawings on the wall. The idea came one day while I was cleaning my kitchen – I saw a stain on the counter and thought, how amazing would it be if I could just click here like in my game and switch this surface? That moment sparked the concept: bring real-life flaws into gameplay to make it even more relatable.

We also created design challenges to let players choose the source of the imperfection — a dog, a cat, or just life — and the response was incredibly positive. It’s been our most successful design event of 2025 so far, with players saying how much they related to the concept and loved seeing their real lives reflected in the game.

🏡 Real homes have real stories, and now, so does Redecor!

Do you have any tips or tricks on how to establish the perfect setting in Redecor? For those who’ve yet to launch their own digital career in interior design, how would you recommend setting a scene?

Natalie: Redecor is a great starting point for improving your design skills. The game begins with “My Design Journal,” which covers the basics of design, offering tips and tutorials on color combinations, lighting, and textures. There’s no “right or wrong” in design—it's about personal taste. Whether you prefer eclectic, maximalist, or minimalist styles, there’s room for all kinds of creativity. Neutral and Boho designs tend to be fan favorites, but we also explore emerging trends like the pinkish Coquette core, which recently gained popularity with players.

Let’s talk about the future; specifically, the second and third quarters of the year. How’s the latter half of 2025 looking for you, if you don’t mind me asking? If you’ve another update that you wouldn’t mind sharing with us, please could you give us some insight into what we can expect?

Natalie: Actually, we have a major announcement coming at the end of Q3. We can't disclose full details yet but it will bring a more engaging, purpose-driven game experience for our players. Look forward to sharing more information as it gets closer.

In the meantime, we’ve added several new features to the game, including tournaments, the “Greenhouse” shared mission, where players can grow and nurture gardens together, and the “Design Streak” — a daily design challenge. Since launching these updates, we’ve seen great engagement.

We aim to be a space where players can express themselves through design and feel recognized for their creativity. It goes beyond aesthetics — we're focused on promoting self-connection and wellbeing through calming, wellness-oriented content. This season highlights nature-inspired, eco-friendly design, and upcoming themes in May and June will center on positivity, mental wellness, and the calming effects of flowers and Zen-inspired spaces.

Where might we be able to find some more information on Redecor? Aside from the respective Android and iOS app handles, where else might we be able to scratch that post-Real World itch?

Natalie: Visit Redecor.com and follow along on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube to explore the new collection and stay up to date on the latest in-game offerings.

Thanks for taking the time to fill us in on all the latest updates on the Real World collection. Would you like to add any final touches to this story before we tie a ribbon on it, so to speak?

Natalie: As someone who’s been part of this game for years, I can genuinely say our players often tell us, “Redecor makes me happy.” It’s a meaningful, creative outlet — and we’re always excited to welcome new players into the community.

Thanks, Natalie!
