Red Dead Online Is Finally Getting a Horde Mode

Listen up, cowpoke. Red Dead Online is about to receive a new mode choc-full of bloodthirsty ranchers and Pinkertons, meaning it’s your job, along with the rest of the Wild West, to drive them back to the roots they sprung from.

Rockstar Games, still working tirelessly to keep the Red Dead Online ship afloat, will be bringing a new horde mode to the platform next week. That’s right, as of the 10th, players can access Call to Arms, a survival-based segment that will have you fending off waves of opponents, protecting local settlements and their townsfolk, and, of course, establishing a line of defence against intruding armies.

“Call to Arms launches in Red Dead Online on August 10th,” Rockstar posted in an official tweet. “Batten down the hatches and come to the aid of local townsfolk to fight off waves of enemies in a brand-new survival-based mode.”

Finally — a horde mode!

Although keeping a chunk of the details for the new mode concealed, Rockstar has brought the news to light alongside some other consolation prizes. As well as Call to Arms making its way to the West, a few additional things will also lay temporary roots in the sand and stone of the desolate plains.

The first thread pulled from the spool is a diamond, known locally as Il Sovrano, a jewel that will find a home in Rhodes very soon. A jewel that, with the right strategy, could very well end up sitting in your back pocket, along with a hefty reward should you choose to lift it.

On top of the diamond, Red Dead Online will also see in a new Saloon Contract, with a collection of new missions that will have you shaking up local waterholes for profit. And then, of course, there are a few additional updates that will essentially bolster your overall journey out in the sticks. So, quite an upload from Rockstar next week, and one we honestly can’t wait to sink our teeth into.

Red Dead Online releases Call to Arms along with a bunch of other goodies on August 10th. You can follow the updates for the game on the official Twitter handle here.
