Mimunga on The Lost Glitches – Interview Series

Mimunga, the creators behind the upcoming “techno-optimism-themed” deck-building RPG The Lost Glitches, is but a hop, skip, and a stone’s throw away from launching its XAI Network-set game on Steam, which, according to the developer, will arrive as early as Q4 2024. Eager to learn more about the project, I recently caught up with the team over at Mimunga.

Firstly, congratulations on the Open Beta launch of The Lost Glitches! For the sake of covering all bases, please could you tell us a bit more about it? What sort of game is it, and where did the idea stem from?

Thank you so much, we’re excited to launch the Open Beta of The Lost Glitches!. It’s cyberpunk/techno-optimism themed trading card game combines unique gameplay mechanics with a diverse set of 300+ cards in the first expansion. Players can collect cards from booster packs, build decks, and challenge others in PvP battles, all set in a game world where each battle helps recover Memory Fragments and strengthens your role in the Deep Sky Network.

The idea for The Lost Glitches was born from our passion for classic TCGs and a desire to evolve the genre by blending it with RPG progression elements. We wanted to create a game that not only offers strategic card battles but also immerses players in a rich narrative-driven world. The cyberpunk/tech-optimism theme perfectly complements the mechanics and story, giving players a visually striking and thematically deep experience.

The art style is definitely something we’d like to discuss. There’s evidently a tremendous amount of detail in the characters and thematic set pieces. Could you tell us more about these design choices? What inspired the look?

Glad you noticed the art style! We really wanted to create a world that feels alive and full of detail, and that all ties back to our vision of a tech-optimistic future. We’re big believers in the idea that technology can be a force for good, so we aimed to build a world that’s not just cool to look at but also tells a story about a future where tech is a positive influence.

Diversity was super important to us, too. We wanted to make sure that the game’s characters are as varied and dynamic as the players who’ll be diving into this world. You’ll find characters from all walks of life, with different backgrounds and cultures, exactly like our team, because that’s what makes the world interesting and real.

As for the overall vibe, a lot of the inspiration came from our founder’s and art team’s vision of what the future could be – where tech and diversity blend seamlessly to create something awesome. So, yeah, the art style isn’t just about looking cool (though we think it does that too! *laughs*), but it’s also about bringing that vision to life in a way that feels fresh and exciting for everyone who plays.

We’d love to hear more about some of the in-game rewards that players will be able to acquire, too. Could you kindly share some examples of what you’re offering future consumers?

Totally! We’re pretty excited about the rewards players can get their hands on in The Lost Glitches, especially during the Open Beta. Right now, players can earn some sweet rewards like Exclusive Collectibles, Marks of Honor, Data Shards, and Credits. These rewards aren’t just about boosting your gameplay – they’re also about giving you bragging rights with unique stuff that shows off your progress. Plus, as you play you’ll unlock new decks and avatars to keep things fresh in your PvP ranked battles.

Also, we’ve got special surprise rewards for the community when they help us out by reporting bugs and balancing issues. Our community is super active and plays a huge role in shaping the game. We’re all about listening to feedback and making changes on the go, so when you participate, you’re actually helping us create a balanced and awesome collection of cards.

Looking ahead, we’ve got some really exciting plans for future in-game rewards. We’re talking about booster packs, cosmetics, and even a Battle Pass – but with a twist. Instead of the usual linear progression, we’re designing it more like a map of the world. You get to choose what you want to unlock during the season and in what order, so it’s all about personalizing your journey through the game. It’s our way of making sure the game stays engaging and gives players more control over how they progress.

With a treasure trove of cards to collect and other benefits to claim along the way, it seems only right that we invite the creators to share a few useful tips with potential newcomers. Do you have any words of advice for those who are hoping to maximize their returns?

Jumping into The Lost Glitches is super easy, especially since you’ll get free starter decks right off the bat, each catering to different playstyles, so you can start experimenting right away. My advice? Don’t stress – play with the starter decks, and when you’re ready to build your own, focus on a balanced deck that suits your style, whether you prefer going all-out on offense or taking a more strategic approach. Pay attention to how your cards work together and keep an eye on your opponent’s moves to stay one step ahead. And don’t forget, our active community is full of tips and strategies, so engage with them, have fun, and you’ll be maximizing your returns in no time! You can always jump into our Discord and ask for help – players can share custom deck codes with you that you can import and try out!

The Lost Glitches is due to arrive on the Xai network at some stage in the latter half of 2024. Tell us, what are the next steps for this project?

The game is already live with our Open Beta on the XAI network and is part of XAI’s Vanguard: Genesis campaign, running from August 15 through September 15. You can find more about the rewards for this season here. We’re planning for a full launch later this year, so stay tuned for the exact timing – we’ll be sharing more details soon. Right now, our focus is on gathering feedback from players to help us fine-tune and polish the game, making sure it’s the best it can be when we go live.

Plus, we have a really big announcement coming in the next few weeks! But we’re keeping it under wraps for now. Let’s just say it’s going to be a major improvement for The Lost Glitches ecosystem!

Perhaps we’re getting a little ahead of ourselves with this one, but could you shed a little light on what you’re aiming to achieve over the course of 2025? More cards, perks, or competitive events, perhaps?

We definitely have big plans for The Lost Glitches in 2025! We see the game as a “live-services” experience, meaning you can expect a steady flow of new content throughout the year and beyond. Yes, we’re planning to roll out new cards, mechanics, battlegrounds, and more items, along with plenty of surprises. We’re also committed to listening to our community’s feedback and ideas, so you can bet that some of the new content will be inspired by what players want to see in the game.

Of course, we’d like to stay in the loop ahead of the formal debut. Are there any upcoming milestones, events, or newsletters that we should be taking note of ahead of the fourth quarter?

Definitely! Stay tuned for some exciting news coming towards the end of the Open Beta – we’ve got some big announcements lined up. We’ll also be sharing more updates and details as we get closer to the fourth quarter, so keep an eye out for those. You won’t want to miss what’s coming next! Is there anything you would like to add for our readers?

Absolutely! The Lost Glitches is just the first step into the broad and deep universe of the Deep Sky Network. We’re incredibly excited to gradually reveal more of the rich lore, the exciting elements that make this world unique, and our future plans for expanding the universe.

There’s so much more to come, and we can’t wait to share it with you as we continue building this world together. We’re thrilled to bring this new IP to the masses and can’t wait for everyone to experience it.

Thanks for your time! We look forward to seeing more of The Lost Glitches over the coming months!
