Infinite Alliance: Everything We Know

Video games are impactful because you get to dive into multiple virtual worlds and explore them as many different characters. The best part about them, however, is that people create newer and better virtual worlds every single day. That creates an endless stream of fantastical adventures for game enthusiasts to explore. By that metric, fans are beyond thrilled about an upcoming title, Infinite Alliance, which will soon join the gaming community. What’s even more impressive is that the game will be utterly free upon its launch. Below, we dive into everything we know about Infinite Alliance so far.
What is Infinite Alliance?
The title is a turn-based RPG, featuring over 13 independent Japanese-style role-playing game characters. The narrative transports heroes and villains to a distant world. In it, they take on many adventures through navigating unfamiliar territory. Aside from that, their quest leads them to forge new alliances and face great darkness that threatens to endanger all their worlds.
Additionally, Infinite Alliance is a collaborative game, which sets it apart from other crossover titles. Several indie developers volunteered their characters to contribute to a shared universe created for this project. They include characters from games like Chained Echoes, Quartet, Jack Move, 8-Bit Adventures 2, Beloved Rapture, and many more. It serves as a true testament to the diversity and brilliance held by indie JRPG developers.
Story
Infinite Alliance follows the story of a cosmic crisis. It pulls together heroes and villains from different realms, trapping them in a dead world. From this strange place, the champions must face the shadows of their past. Additionally, they redeem a hero and destroy a dark force that threatens all creation. The villains included in the game span a wide range of well-known characters from several indie JRPGs, like Drago from Beloved Rapture, Montam from Venaitura, and The Fateshifter from Ephemeral Tale.
However, the title also includes a new villain, Qliphoth. He serves as the main bad guy and the dark force that seeks to destroy creation. Other than that, other new antagonists will be revealed as the game’s production progresses. Players will meet friends, foes, and reimagined environments as they take on their quests. Additionally, the designers created the story to seamlessly integrate players unfamiliar with the characters and the games in which they were previously featured. It promises fun, thrill, and an unmatched experience.
Gameplay
Infinite Alliance uses the classic turn-based combat system that has been a part of JRPG titles for a long time. You will be able to take part in intense battles with a party of nine different heroes, each with their unique playstyle. Contrary to the three to four characters in most JRPG matches, the size of the party in this title depicts the possibility of much more complicated gameplay. The game may require players to implement more complicated battle strategies and character combinations.
Furthermore, the game has a wide range of playable heroes, each with their own special skills and ways to play from their original games. They are Glenn from Chained Echoes, The Warrior from 8-Bit Adventures 2, Noa from Jack Move, Whoopis from My Familiar, Vera and Arin from Eternal Remnant, Alexandra from Quartet, Rio from Shrine’s Legacy, Dustin from Kingdoms of the Dump, Chel from For a Vast Future, and Gio from Geo Mythica.
While we do not have the full details of the battle system mechanisms presented in the game, the details unveiled so far hint that the action will look good and may include features from the many games that are part of the crossover. The game will allow players to explore immersive environments from the many indie JRPGs that are part of the crossover. The developers ensure players that the game will have plenty of distinct locations to visit, based on the different worlds of the included games. Essentially, it makes for a rich and varied universe to explore.
Development
The creation of Infinite Alliance involves a one-of-a-kind collaboration in the indie JRPG scene. The creators, Critical Games, collaborated with Electric Airship, which was in charge of publishing the title. A wide range of artists, musicians, and programmers make up the production team, with each of them adding their own skills to different parts of the game.
The entire team not only embraces a wide range of creative ideas but also treats each character and aspect of the different games with care and authenticity. Because there are many artists and composers working on the game, it will probably include a variety of visual and aural styles that pay tribute to the independent JRPGs that are part of the crossover.
Trailer
The game’s trailer, revealed at the Indie Quest 2025 event, begins by revealing the game’s pixel graphic style, which takes bits and pieces from other indie JRPGs that are part of the crossover and includes them in the game. It also shows some of the characters you may play as on what seems like a dead or dying globe with a lot of moons or planets in the sky. That fits with the game’s premise that something/someone takes characters from their homes and leaves them in an unknown place. Infinite Alliance’s trailer additionally presents short clips of the turn-based fighting system. They reveal character pictures and command interfaces.
The game’s visual direction is one of the most impressive things in the preview. It brings together characters from different titles with diverse art styles into a single, unified whole. Additionally, it shows a combination of sci-fi and fantasy settings, with modern cities next to more classic fantasy environments. That display reveals various worlds the characters come from. The trailer ends with an unexpected announcement that the game will be absolutely free when it comes out in 2026. That has made people even more interested in the concept.
