5 Best Games Like Hi-Fi Rush

Hi-Fi Rush, Tango Gameworks rhythm-based action adventure, was kept under the radar prior to its release, but now that it's out, it's quickly making a name for itself. Its icon pop art style, combined with a head-bumping soundtrack that syncs to its action gameplay, is not only unique but difficult to execute in general. However, the developers were successful in perfecting its two notable variables. As a result, gamers are scrambling to experience its original adventure. It has also prompted us to consider the few games that offer a similar flashy, rhythm-based experience. So if you're getting a kick out of Hi-Fi Rush, these are the best games like it you'll want to play after.

5. Jet Set Radio

Jet Set Radio Trailer

One of the first to ever do a game that focused on art style and music at the forefront was Sega with Jet Set Radio for the Dreamcast. For those of us that enjoyed the console while it was still relevant, you'll know just how much of a staple this game really was. Players took control of a member of the GGs, a youth rebel gang, with the goal of speeding, grinding, and tricking their way through Tokyo on inline skates. All while spraying graffiti, challenging rival gangs, and avoiding the authorities.

Though not directly rhythm-based, it features a killer soundtrack and a similar icon pop art style to what you have in Hi-Fi Rush. Evidently, why we argue it as one of the best games like Hi-Fi Rush. The original game was released back in 2000, but a reworked version was released in 2012 for PC on Steam. You can also grab it on Xbox through its Live Arcade.

4. Sayonara Wild Hearts

SAYONARA WILD HEARTS | Launch Trailer

Annapurna Interactive is quickly becoming one of the most dynamic game studios of the last decade. Now known for providing gamers with a diverse and highly engaging roster of games. As of late, they've been making a name for themselves with games like Stray and Neon White, among a long list of other notable titles. Nonetheless, the early games that propelled them to stardom should not be overlooked. Sayonara Wild Hearts is one such game.

This rhythm-based adventure covers the board, from riding motorcycles at breakneck speeds to skateboarding and dance battling, all to the beat of the rhythm of course. And did we mention it includes shooting lasers and fighting with swords in the midst of the chaos? Sayonara Wild Hearts has a lot to offer with its gameplay, and it all revolves around flashy rhythmic-based visuals. As a result, this is one of the best games like Hi-Fi Rush that undoubtedly offers a similar experience.

3. Metal Hellsinger

Metal Hellsinger Launch Trailer

One of the biggest games of 2022 was Metal Hellsinger. This is a rhythm-based first-person shooter where you take on waves of demonish enemies to the sounds of heavy metal music. And yes, it plays as hardcore as it sounds. Regardless if you're a fan of heavy metal music or not, Metal Hellsinger will have you jamming to it. Especially when you're on a roll with the beat.

It definitely takes a note out of Doom's book with its action gameplay. So if you're a fan of the fast-paced and chaotic levels of that game, Metal Hellsinger plays very similarly. The main difference is that you get to demolish demons while listening to a soundtrack that is perfectly suited to the gameplay. Furthermore, for those who enjoy a good challenge, the game rewards players who try and 100% its levels without missing a beat. But let us be the first to tell you that your rhythm and gameplay must be perfectly in sync.

2. No Straight Roads

No Straight Roads - Gameplay Trailer

No Straight Roads is a third-person, EDM rhythm-based action game. Furthermore, it appears that Hi-Fi Rush took a page directly from its book, as the games follow a fairly similar narrative. In No Straight Roads, you must defeat all of the game's bosses in order to break the EDM monopoly and put rock music back on the map. You guessed it, out-rocking the EDM musical megastars is the only way to do so.

Artistically, this is one of the best games like Hi-Fi Rush, and it features a similar soundtrack. As with No Straight Roads, your goal is to bring rock back to life, and consequently, Hi-Fi Rush is based around rock music. The game was created by Wan Hazmer (Final Fantasy XV) and Daim Dziauddin (Street Fighter V). Two directors from a couple of well-known franchises. As a result, you can have confidence that this game will provide an enjoyable rhythm-based experience that will complement the gameplay of Hi-Fi Rush.

1. The Artful Escape

The Artful Escape - Official Launch Trailer

The Artful Escape was created by Beethoven and Dinosaur, but it is published by Annapurna Interactive; because they have their hands on all games that are awesome, creative, and original. In this rhythm-based side-scroller, you play as a young guitar prodigy who embarks on a psychedelic adventure to confront an old folk legend. You can't tell us that doesn't sound like a riveting story to which you can also rock out too. Because it surely does.

The game's soundtrack is composed of actual voice performances from a list of singers. But the best part is it's just like Hi-Fi Rush in that you compose music as you traverse a world made of sound. It's entirely rhythm-based, and just the title you're looking for to satisfy that craving. Out of all the games like Hi-Fi Rush in this list, The Artful Escape is undoubtedly the best.
