Best Archetypes in Metaphor: ReFantazio

Archetypes in Metaphor: ReFantazio are simply classes, ones you can switch to during combat to tap into unique skills and abilities. Some can also seamlessly synergize with other characters in your party, adding even more incentive to unlock and upgrade them as soon as you can. The archetypes on offer differ greatly because of their varying perks and their immense number.
You have a total of 46 archetypes you can choose for seven playable characters across 14 lineages for seven playable characters. Whew. So many choices yet narrowed down for you in the best archetypes in Metaphor: ReFantazio list below.
10. Masked Dancer
Masked Dancer is Juani Cygnus’ archetype, which he unlocks in the fight against Idaeus Glodell. It’s quite a reliable archetype that you need to level up with the bond to the protagonist, which will consequently open up the archetype to the party. Based on its name, Masked Dancer lets you change masks to tap into three different skills while changing your affinities. Do note, though, that in addition to the Masked Dancer itself, you also access mask skills for other archetypes like the Seeker. This means that the Masked Dancer can bypass buying other Archetypes or even upgrading them.
9. Wizard
You’ll have to deepen the bond between the protagonist and Gallica to get the Wizard archetype. However, this archetype is a lineage from the Mage class. So, you have to have mastered being a Mage first to maximize its benefits. It’s all worth it, though, as Wizard is stronger. You enjoy special passive skills like regaining MP when you buff your stats and accessing more potent and more accurate Synthesis. Moreover, you also gain Makarabreak negation skills and an electric variant of Skyfall Bolt.
8. Samurai
Samurai comes from the Warrior lineage, which is born from the bond between the protagonist and Strohl. You’ll have to reach level ten of the General and master the Swordmaster class. However, it’s the creme del a creme with powerful attacks that inflict irreparable damage on enemies. You can retaliate against incoming attacks and ramp up your power when you face an enemy who begins to overwhelm you. Your accuracy, too, is enhanced, and you gain the ability to negate damage and restore health.
7. Martial Artist
While upgrading on the Brawler lineage, you’ll unlock the Martial Artist archetype, which requires a bond between the protagonist and Catherina. Its predecessor is the Pugilist, which you have to master first to utilize it to the fullest. With Martial Artist, though, you gain lots of skills, including stunning foes, thus lowering their defense, unleashing more powerful attacks, HP recovery, and resistance to magic attacks, among other Synthesis perks.
6. Saviour
Cleric precedes the Saviour class in the Healer lineage. It comes from the bond between the protagonist and Maria. Among the many perks you gain with Savior include dealing heavier light-based attacks, quicker HP recovery, and healing allies. As for the benefits of Synthesis, you enjoy more powerful light-based attacks and revive all allies with their full HP intact, which makes all the difference in more intense enemy encounters.
5. Summoner

Summoner’s is Eupha’s archetype. Unlike other classes, you don’t benefit from mastering this class. However, you craft its skills individually. Once crafted, you can start summoning monsters to attack enemies on your behalf. The monsters can also heal your party. Compared to other archetypes, Summoner may lag behind in terms of offense and defense variety. However, summoning monsters is already a powerful magical skill to have on its own.
4. Elemental Master

Magic is a major part of Metaphor: ReFantazio. So, to have the Elemental Master from the Mage lineage can make all the difference. It’s Gallica’s archetype that requires mastering Wizard. When you master Elemental Master, you immediately get more health. But you also inflict heavier fire, ice, and electric-based elemental damage. Further, you enjoy an extra boost to all your magic attacks by 15%. Meanwhile, you also recover your MP for every successful stun or enemy kill.
3. Persona Master

Third on the best archetypes in Metaphor: ReFantazio is Persona Master. It’s the upgrade to Masked Dancer that requires reaching level ten of Faker. Being the next step after Masked Dancer, you carry over all the skills and perks from that class. In addition, you can now inflict weaknesses on enemies. Whether or not they are resistant to certain attacks, you can make them susceptible to either electric, wind, or light-based damage. Moreover, you can inflict fire damage on enemies that will negate all the buffs the enemy may have. In all your attacks, Persona Master makes it so you have a higher chance of one-time kills.
2. Prince

Prince is a royal archetype that is the first you can access in Metaphor: ReFantazio. Being a royal archetype means you’ll unlock it much later in the game. However, it’s completely worth the grind, given its perks. You can wield any armor and gear you want and replace any Archetype to get better Synthesis skills. Also, you deal more powerful slash attacks while inflicting heavier light-based damage. You recover HP and MP from successful support attacks and can resist all affinity damage except Almighty.
1. Devil Summoner

On the Summoner lineage, you can reach Eupha’s Devil Summoner. You’ll have to master Summoner first and reach rank ten of Magic Seeker. Thereafter, you’ll resist dark damage while inflicting heavier ice, electric, and fire-based attacks. While the damage output ranged from medium to extreme, the archetype makes up for it by negating enemy resistances. You can lower an enemy’s defense for three turns, making the most of it by inflicting more powerful physical piece damage. Or you can use Summon Fallen to put up a barrier that protects you from slash, pierce, or strike attacks. Lastly, you can restore one ally’s full HP.
