High on Life: Hidden Achievements Guide

In case you haven't caught it yet, Rick & Morty creator Justin Roiland has formed his own studio (aptly titled Squanch Games), and has developed a game that rings all the same bells as its Adult Swim counterpart. As it turns out, this new game—High on Life— is a whole lot like Rick & Morty, right down to the bad language, punch-drunk humor, and vibrant sci-fi setting. The only difference here is its characters; Gatlians, which are, in short, talking guns that have an everlasting hunger for mindless violence and gore.

Blim City, the world in which High on Life centers its story around, comes with its fair share of unlockable loadouts, weapons, and of course, achievements. Like in any other game with accolades, Squanch Games' absurd shooter does its all to cover a portion of them, which can in turn add additional molehills for you to climb. But if you'd rather skip the hassle and unlock them right off the bat, then read on for each of their respective criteria. Here are all the achievements you can miss in High on Life.

Don't Knife The Hand That Feeds

After claiming your first bounty down in the Slums, you will return back to Gene with Knifey in your inventory. To unlock the achievement “Don't Knife That Hand That Feeds”, simply wait for Knifey to raise a comment about stabbing Gene in the gut, and then proceed to do so. This will not kill Gene, and will only unlock a new piece of dialogue.

Gunning For Your Job

To unlock the “Gunning For Your Job” achievement, simply complete the Douglas Bounty Contract, after which you'll receive Sweezy as a reward. Once done, start the Krubis Bounty Contract; you will need to use the dialogue option “I'm the new boss” when speaking to the receptionist. This will automatically pop the aforementioned accolade.

Eatin' Good in the Neighborhood

During the story quest that has you searching for your sister in the Slums, you will find yourself at an eatery with Kenny. After watching the cutscene, you will regain control of your hero, at which point you will need to chase after the G3 cartel outside of the restaurant. Before doing this, look down at your table and interact with the bill to pay it. This will unlock the “Eatin' Good in the Neighborhood” achievement.

Spent 15 Hours At The Alien Strip Club

After onboarding the Nipulon Bounty Contract, simply progress deeper into the level until you reach the boss fight. During the fight, Nipulon will throw you down what appears to be a bottomless loop hole, at which point the enemy will attempt to “hack” your game and wipe your saved data. After this winds up being a complete bust, the G3 boss will instead slap you with the achievement “Spent 15 Hours At The Alien Strip Club” in a bid to plague your public cabinet.

Playing Favorites

At the end of the final battle against Garmantuous, Kenny will offer himself up as a sacrifice to help bring the G3 commander down. To pop the achievement “Playing Favorites”, simply ignore Kenny's request and switch to another Gatlian in your inventory. Note that whatever weapon you choose will not suffer any drastic consequences as a result of your choice.

A Starfish Is Born

“A Starfish Is Born” is perhaps the trickiest achievement in High on Life, and one that also involves playing through the entire game from beginning to end. If you should miss the earliest steps, then the achievement will be locked automatically and remain unavailable unless the game is restarted. To pop the accolade, follow the below steps.

  • After beating 9-Torg, you will need to purchase the Drum in the Blim City Pawnshop for 78 Pesos.
  • Find Globo and his father in Blim City, and then gift the Drum to Globo before taking on any other Bounty Contracts. You can find Globo to the right of Blorto's.
  • After completing each Bounty Contract, return to Globo in Blim City and exhaust all of the available dialogue options. Before the final boss, you will automatically receive a TV clip of Globo performing. You will need to watch the entire performance in order to unlock the “A Starfish Is Born” achievement.

We Paid For The Rights To Put A Whole Movie

To get the “We Paid For The Rights To Put A Whole Movie” achievement, you will need to use the Movie Theatre Warp Disc from Blim City's pawnshop to swap out a location in the Zephyr Paradise: Upper Valley biome. You can reach this location after beating either Douglas or Kubris by using the Bounty 5000. Once there, head right towards the top of the hill, and interact with the warp location. You will be able to swap the mansion out for a movie theatre, which will in turn reward you with the aforementioned achievement.

Epic Legendary Prize

After Gene decides to stay in your home rent-free, you will have the chance to watch the shows that he puts on in the living room, including a whole lot of alien-themed ads. To pop the “Epic Legendary Prize” achievement, you will need to reload your last saved game while in Blim City until a certain ad pops up. Specifically, the five-minute ad featuring a robot talking about prizes. You will need to sit through the entire advertisment in order to unlock the trophy.

Sequel-Bait

After beating the final High on Life boss, head back to Blim City and portal over to Mayor Clugg's office. From here, pick up the Keycard on the desk, and then use the Bounty 5000 to warp over to Human Haven, to the Unknown Sector. Once there, ascend all the way to the pinnacle of the tower until you reach a sealed door. Once you use your Keycard on the door, the “Sequel-Bait” achievement will unlock.

Carried Stan's Load To Completion

To pop the “Carried Stan's Load To Completion” achievement, simply purchase the item “Gallon of Alien Cum” from Stan in downtown Blim City before accepting the final Bounty Contract. You will be able to find Stan in Blim City after you've successfully bought out the Jetpack upgrade in the local pawnshop.
