Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Romancing

Final Fantasy 7 developers would undoubtedly carry the trophy for one of the most immersive video games of all time. Square Enix’s choice of gameplay features beats fans' imagination of an enriching title, and with the trilogy still ongoing, they can only wait for the next updates.

For now, it’s time to enjoy the features unveiled in the latest installation, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. For those who’ve been keeping tabs on this game, we can all agree that the romance feature isn’t one to overlook. But if you’re only getting started, here is your Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth romancing guide.

5. Aerith

Aerith

You’re not short of characters to romance on Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. However, if you are set on having Aerith on the Gold Saucer date, you must do all it takes to win her over. First, it helps to keep the relationship meter in check for Aerith and ensure it’s headed in the right direction as you proceed with the gameplay.

Ideally, she should be on your highest relationship level when you get to chapters 8 and 12. That way, all the odds point to Aerith knocking on your door at these iconic moments. You only have to maintain the blue color on her relationship meter, ensuring no other character achieves the blue mark, the highest indicator of relationship levels.

And to get there, just keep your gameplay options biased toward Aerith. Complete all her side quests in the game and always choose the best dialogue options for Aerith. Once you get on the beach in Costa del Sol, pick Aerith and match your swimwear with hers. Unlocking all synergy abilities and skills for Cloud and Aerith and giving your best shot at the Junon Parade also go a long way in boosting Clod and Aerith’s relationship level.

4. Tifa

Tifa

As Cloud’s childhood friend, Tifa and Cloud already share a friendship. However, that’s not enough to get Tifa to the Haunted Hotel for the Gold Saucer date. You still have to win her over by building Tifa’s affinity up against all the other characters in Chapter 12.

There are quite some similarities in what you need to do for Tifa and Aerith, so it’s good that you ultimately don’t get mixed up. For instance, hitting 100,000 points at the Junon Parade awards you points for both Tifa and Aerith, just like matching their beach outfits.

For Tifa, you can focus on unlocking her synergy abilities like the Synchro Cyclone and Relentless Rush, as well as the Power Cleave and Counterfire skills. Tifa longs for their old-day relationship with Cloud, but you have to let her know that Cloud is reminiscent of these moments in their conversations. Just choose the best conversational answer from the options. Finally, complete all Tifa-centric side quests, and don’t miss any Tifa relationship boost events through the chapters.

3. Red XIII

Red XIII

Red XIII was not a romance character in the original Final Fantasy game, only coming as a surprise in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. So why not try him out? One thing about Red XIII is that you can increase his affinity above all other party members almost throughout the game.

Most of his relationship boosts come pretty early in the game, so it's possible to have the blue mark on him all through the game. You just have to know the right answers for every conversation, not miss a Red XIII side quest, and choose to help him at the beach.

It’s a ton of activities that will see you increase XIII’s relationship meter, which you can always see by pressing L1. But the most exciting is the Queen’s Blood Tournament, where Red XIII challenges you to a match after Cloud defeats Regina in the final match. Besides boosting your romance with Red XIII, you win the legendary Ifrit card and a trophy collectible. The chapter 9 sidequest is also rather hilarious, as you lure the chicken back to the old woman using a clanger.

2. Yuffie

Yuffie

Yuffie appears in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s gameplay quite early, but you will only have her at the party, a distance from the gameplay. That means you have little time to build your relationship with this materia-obsessed ninja, which means one thing. There are no chances to skip a missable bonus or a side quest.

Her side quests appear in Chapters 7, 9, 10, 11, and 12, so watch for these Yuffie-focused missions.  For instance, once you get to the Corel mines in Chapter 7, create a safe route for Yuffie, Barret, and Tifa by flipping the switch on the cart. Yuffie is easily nauseated, so making a safe path for her makes her happy and improves your score.

Ensure you have all the good things to say about Yuffie during conversations. When Yuffie challenges Cloud to a fight and wants to join a party in chapter six, you can pick positive, suggestive answers like Sure, Kinnda, or Beat it. Again, when she sings in Chapter 9 on the couch at Cissnei’s house, go with the answer, “Nice song. Funny too”.Simply focus on Yuffie once she joins the party and use her skills and abilities at least once to have her approach you to be her Gold Saucer companion.

1. Barret

Barret: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Romancing

Like with any other character, increasing the relationship meter is the ultimate Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth romancing guide. So, with Barret, you must still capture the same gameplay moments from side quests, conversations, synergy skills and abilities, and missable events.

Bro-down Barret with conversations that flatter his leadership and motivate him to push the fight harder. You can start to build on the relationship meter early in Chapter 2 when Barret says, “Not gonna have a drop until Seventh Heaven is back up and running,” by responding with, “ First one’s on me.”

Complete all Barret side quests before settling at the Gold Sauce. You can tell which quests involve Barret through the cutscenes explaining what the quests entail. Players will also instantly boost the affinity meter whenever they use a synergy skill or ability that teams up Cloud and Barret.
