Diablo V Targets Spring 2029 as Blizzard Debuts 48-Second Teaser

The publisher’s Blizzard News index lists a dedicated announcement post, “Diablo V is Coming Spring 2029,” dated September 12, 2026. The post’s summary describes Diablo V as the beginning of a new dark era for the Diablo saga. A companion post published the same day, “Diablo’s Next Era Revealed at BlizzCon 2026: Opening Ceremonies Recap,” places the reveal among the company’s announcements from the show’s Opening Ceremonies.

An official Diablo V product page is also live. The page states that the game is in development and frames its premise in two short lines: “Sanctuary has fallen. Diablo won.” Beneath an embedded version of the teaser, the page repeats that Diablo V is in development and coming in Spring 2029.

The official Diablo YouTube channel published a 48-second teaser on September 12, 2026. The video’s description confirms that Diablo V has been announced and directs viewers to the game’s website to sign up for future updates.

The teaser’s narration says the angels meant to save humanity did not, and that Sanctuary is now his, set against heavy breathing, anguished screams, bleak music, and crackling fire. The teaser closes with the declaration “The Lord of Terror has returned.”

BlizzCon 2026 runs September 12–13 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Blizzard’s official Diablo preview guide placed the Opening Ceremonies on the Main Stage at 10:15 a.m. PT on September 12, with a simulcast on YouTube.com/Blizzard and Twitch.tv/Blizzard.

According to the guide, Johanna Faries, President of Blizzard Entertainment, would be joined by leaders of all Blizzard franchises for major game announcements, with Diablo taking center stage to reveal plans for the future of Sanctuary. The event also marks the Diablo franchise’s 30th anniversary.

According to the summary of Blizzard’s Opening Ceremonies recap post, a Diablo animated series is being developed with Netflix, and the Amazon is the next class in Diablo IV.

The anniversary extends into the games themselves. A same-day post on the Blizzard News index, “Celebrate 30 Years of Diablo in Season of Hell’s Legacy,” describes a Diablo IV season built around the milestone as a battle for the soul of Sanctuary, in which players revisit past memories, fight the Prime Evils, and uncover long-forgotten secrets.

Blizzard’s schedule placed a “Diablo: Developer Update” panel on the Main Stage at 1:45 p.m. PT on September 12, with the Diablo team set to discuss the ideas, craft, and ambition shaping the franchise. Later on September 12, “The Art of Darkness: Behind Diablo 4’s Cinematics” was scheduled to bring the Diablo IV cinematic team to the Legends Stage at 4:15 p.m. PT for a behind-the-scenes look at the visual storytelling, performance, animation, and craft behind the game’s darkest moments.

Blizzard is also running Twitch promotions tied to the event. A first-ever BlizzCon 2026 event chat badge, created to celebrate Diablo’s 30th anniversary, is available to viewers who purchase one subscription to any creator streaming in a Diablo category between 10:00 a.m. PT on September 12 and 9:59 a.m. PT on September 26, 2026. Twitch Drops award weapon cosmetics for cumulative viewing time in the Diablo IV category through 9:59 a.m. PT on September 15, 2026.

The September 13 schedule adds a Diablo Immortal live artist drawing session with a special guest at 10:00 a.m. PT and a “Voices of Blizzard” panel at 3:15 p.m. PT, featuring the actors behind Blizzard characters and also simulcast. Between those sessions, the “Diablo IV: What’s Next” panel takes the Main Stage at 11:00 a.m. PT on September 13, 2026, with the development team set to preview upcoming content, features, and more.
