Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection Out Now on Nintendo Switch 2
Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo announced in a September 16, 2026 news post. The release bundles the Diablo IV base game with the Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred expansions, and Nintendo lists the collection at a regular price of $69.99 under an “Available now” label.
Blizzard had confirmed the Switch 2 version during the BlizzCon 2026 Opening Ceremony, giving the collection a September 15, 2026 release date, according to the developer’s opening ceremonies recap.
“Hell has arrived on Nintendo Switch 2,” Blizzard wrote in that recap.
The Age of Hatred Collection
Nintendo’s post presents a choice of heroic classes: Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Paladin, Rogue, Sorcerer, Spiritborn, and Warlock.
The post describes campaigns set in Sanctuary, a dark, gothic world beset by demons. The player character, the Wanderer, shares a connection with Lilith, the Daughter of Hatred, a bond the post says gives players a pivotal destiny in the fate of both demons and humanity. Players forge legendary builds, plot conquest through War Plans, and customize epic gear to aid them in battle, according to the post.
Blizzard’s recap describes Switch 2 players plundering through the jungles of Nahantu and the far-reaching shores of Skovos to challenge the Lord of Hatred’s hold over Sanctuary. The island of Skovos was revealed for the first time in Diablo IV in the Lord of Hatred expansion, Blizzard said.
The release carries ESRB content descriptors for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, and Language, along with Users Interact and In-Game Purchases notices. A launch trailer accompanied Nintendo’s announcement.
Season of Hell’s Legacy
The Switch 2 debut arrives alongside the Season of Hell’s Legacy, which Blizzard said began rolling out on September 15, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. PT. Nintendo’s post frames the season as a sweeping tribute marking Diablo’s 30th anniversary, while Blizzard describes it as a playable tribute to the franchise’s most iconic characters, foes, locations, and loot.
The post bills the Season of Hell’s Legacy as Diablo IV’s “most epic season yet.”
Blizzard said more than 130 million players worldwide have entered Sanctuary across the Diablo franchise.
In the season, the lost soul of Deckard Cain returns to guide players on a journey to redeem the dark wanderers from the torment of the Prime Evils. Players confront Baal, Mephisto, and Diablo, reclaim splinters of their souls, and can bear one of the Splinters to assume a portion of their power, a demonic gift Blizzard cautions comes at a steep price. Nintendo’s post also encourages players to watch for secrets, noting that some of the season’s tales have yet to be revealed.
BlizzCon 2026 and What Comes Next
The Switch 2 confirmation came alongside other Diablo announcements at BlizzCon 2026. Blizzard opened its recap of the ceremony by stating that, three decades in, the franchise has more content ahead of it than ever before. Blizzard offered the first glimpse of Diablo V, officially in development and coming in Spring 2029, which it set in a Sanctuary where Diablo has triumphed and its heroes have been defeated. It also announced a new animated series set in the world of Diablo in development with Netflix, and said the celebration continues through BlizzCon with developer panels, live gameplay, and franchise content including Diablo Immortal x Spawn.
Panels ran at the Anaheim Convention Center on September 12 and 13, 2026, including a Diablo IV: What’s Next session that featured the world premiere of the Season of Hell’s Legacy gameplay trailer and an early look at the game’s next class, according to the recap.
Blizzard also noted one input detail for the new platform: Nintendo Switch 2 supports mouse and keyboard functionality when plugged in via USB, while Joy-Con 2 mouse functionality is not supported.
That next class is the Amazon, whose class pack Blizzard said is coming to Diablo IV in the first half of 2027. The Amazon hails from the island of Skovos and spans four gameplay archetypes – Champion, Skirmisher, Ranger, and Commander – wielding the returning bow and javelin, which Blizzard said introduces an entirely new weapon type to Diablo IV. Additional class pack details will be shared at a later date, the developer said.
