Destiny 2: Best Hunter Armor

Updated on

Hunters are an essential component of every squad in Destiny 2. Known for their quick mobility, versatile utility, and high-damage output, it goes without saying that the Hunter is one of the most fun classes to play. The best part is that you can build a powerful Hunter around any of the game's subclasses thanks to their wide selection of exotics that work to accommodate a variety of playstyles. Still though, if you want to prove yourself as a standout Hunter, the exotic armor you choose goes a long way in getting you there and evidently why you want the best there is. So, regardless of the subclass you're building around, we've got something for all the Hunters of Destiny 2 in this list. So, read on to see what armor poses best for the class.

8. Mask of Bakris

To kick things off, we have one of the more deathly-looking helmets for Hunters, the Mask of Bakris. For players of the new subclass Stasis, this helmet replaces your dodge with Shift, an ability that will cloak you for a period of time, perfect for disengaging from the fight when need be. However, it's also great for re-engagements as when you come out of cloak, all your Arc weapons will have a 10% damage increase for ten seconds.

The only downside to the Mask of Bakris is that your dodge will have an increased cooldown of 10 seconds. Furthermore, you're not granted its damage boost in PvP. So, while the Mask of Bakris remains some of the best and coolest-looking Hunter armor in the game, it's best equipped for PvE exclusively.

7. Gyrfalcon's Hauberk

Best Hunter Armor

The Gyrfalcon's Hauberk is one of the best pieces of Hunter armor for PvE and PvP. That's because weapons are given a damage buff once you come out of invisibility, and we all know how much Hunters love going invisible. This piece of armor is best used with the Void subclass as it grants 100% uptime to Volatile rounds. Furthermore, all of your Void weapons shoot explosive rounds and there are even damage boosts to heavy weapons. As a result, the Gyrfalcon's Haubreak is a dream for Hunters running the Void subclass.

6. Caliban's Hand

Best Hunter armor

For Hunters that like playing with fire, in other words, rep the Solar subclass, you can't go wrong with Caliban's Hand. This piece of armor is one of the best because it makes your Proximity Knives Scorch targets when hit. If you finish enemies with the Proximity Knives, it will trigger Ignite, which deals AOE damage over a large area. As a result, you'll always want to get the finishing blow with your Proximity Knives.

Many players like to combo this ability with a Fusion Grenade or Ember of Ashes to easily trigger Ignite. This will chunk players who are clustered together and set your team up to come in and clear house. When used right, Caliban's Hand is a no-brainer for Hunters running the Solar subclass, and easily the best armor to use with the class combo.

5. Omnioculus

Omnicolus grants players a second Smoke Bomb charge. Furthermore, you'll have damage resistance while invisible and gain melee energy. To add to this, you can also make allies invisible with your Smoke Bomb. So, when used right, the Omnioculus can be one of the best pieces of armor for Hunter. Having said that, it's most effective while running Nightstalker.

4. Star-Eater Scales

Best Hunter Armor

As far as leg armor goes, the Sar-Eater Scales are some of the best for Hunter, regardless of your subclass. This leg armor's exotic's perk grants double Super Energy when grabbing an Orb of Power. Furthermore, if your Super Ability is full, the Orb of Power will stack boosting your Super's damage and it will even heal you when you cast it. And no, we're not done there.

If you achieve maximum overcharge, so 8X Feast of Light, you'll get an over shield after casting your super. However, if you die at any point, you lose all the boost to your Super Energy. Nonetheless, it's pretty easy to see why the Star-Eater Scales are one of the best armor pieces for Hunter in Destiny 2.

3. Wormhusk Crown

Best Hunter Armor

Hands down, the Wormhusk Crown is a go-to helmet for Hunters in PvE and PvP. That's mainly due to its main feature of healing you after you perform a dodge. This is perfect because if you're ever in a pinch, you're probably dodging anyway. So, with the Wormhusk Crown, you can turn the fight on players who push you when you're low by dodging and re-engaging with more health. Pretty easy to see why it's one of the best armor pieces for Hunter.

2. The Dragon's Shadow

Hunters that like to play fast and constantly slaughter enemies with bullets, The Dragon's Shadow is some of the best chest Armor for the playstyle. That's because The Dragon's Shadow will auto-reload all of your weapons after you dodge. Making it super effective for you to burst players down and keep the pressure on them since you all you need to reload is dodge. But that's not all, not only are all your weapons reloaded after dodging, but you have a faster sprint speed, further slide distance, +50 mobility, and weapon handling speed is increased. Safe to say, The Dragon's Shadow is a bit overpowered.

1. St0mp-EE5

The St0mp-EE5 lands as our number-one pick for the best Hunter armor in Destiny 2. That's solely because of how great it is at boosting Hunter's mobility, after all, it's what the class is so well-known for. The St0mp-EE5 boosts your sprint and slide speed, as well as boosting strafe, high, and triple jump. Pair this with The Dragon's Shadow and you're looking at an elite Hunter who can fly around the map and burst down enemies in the blink of an eye.
