Best Armor & Accessories in Final Fantasy 16

All Final Fantasy games have their fair share of armor and accessories, and Final Fantasy 16 is no different. Whether it’s belts, vambraces, or accessories, each piece of equipment has its strengths and weaknesses that you can exploit to your advantage. You can select the equipment that best fits your playstyle or current situation. Or, mix and match them with your weapons and abilities to create the most optimal build. Ultimately, choosing the best armor and accessories goes a long way toward beating the game and protecting you from enemy attacks.

With a maximum of three pieces of equipment Clive can carry at any given time, it can be difficult to choose from the total of 18 belts, 13 vambraces, and 74 accessories available. Not to worry, though, as we’ve compiled the best armor & accessories in Final Fantasy 16 to give you a head start.

5. Adamantite Gauntlet (Accessory)

Accessories are a must-have during Clive’s journey. It’s easy to underestimate their value. However, they do play a huge role in protecting Clive from attacks. Take the Adamantite Gauntlet, for instance. It offers an exceptional Bonus HP of 500. Even adding up the Bonus HP’s of the most powerful Ouroboros and Sons of Ouroboros armor (and going further to double it) still doesn’t come close. Plus, Clive’s maximum HP currently stands at 3,000 when you reach Level 50. So, adding 500 more definitely makes a good case for sustaining his health a little while longer.

The one downside is that Adamantitie Gauntlet is only available toward the end of the game. Perhaps, meanwhile, you can replace it with the Ring of Timely Healing. It does a similar job, allowing Clive to automatically gulp down a health potion the minute his health drops below a certain level.

How to Get Adamantite Gauntlet

You can get the Adamantite Gauntlet from a treasure coffer found in a cave on a short path to the North West of The Edge of Infinity obelisk in the Kingdom of Waloed.

4. Genji Gloves (Accessory)

Another accessory that drastically improves your gameplay is Genji Gloves. These help increase Clive’s attack power. Which means that your damage output receives a boost across the board. Specifically, Genji Gloves help increase all damage dealt to enemies by 5%. Although negligible, a 5% boost can come in handy. It may seem insignificant when fighting weaker enemies. However, you should notice a drastic change in encounters with more powerful enemies, who’ll start to take up more damage.

Unfortunately, it takes a lot of effort to reach 2,365 Renown. You’ll need to complete many side quests as well as hunts. And, by then, you’ll likely be near the end of the game. Although it can be a daunting task that can take a lot of time, hang in there because the reward truly pays off in the later stages’ high stakes missions. Alternatively, you can swap the Genji Gloves for a Badge of Might accessory, which increases your attack strength by 7. Were it not for the tall order required to acquire it, Genji Gloves would have been a no-brainer top combat accessory and a must-have for your endgame gear.

How to Get Genji Gloves

Genji Gloves are given to you as a reward when you reach 2,365 Renown. Once you reach that number, you can head over to The Patron’s Whisper in Cid’s Hideaway to receive your new Genji Gloves.

3. Ouroboros (Belt)

As far as belts go, Ouroboros is the best belt you can go for in Final Fantasy 16. It does a great job protecting you from enemy attacks, thanks to a whopping Bonus Defense of 95 and Bonus HP of 32 points.

How to Get Ouroboros

You can craft Ouroboros at the Black Hammer in Cid’s Hideaway. But, first, you need to collect the required crafting materials, including comet feather, stone tongue, and orichalcum (one of each). And also, complete three of the Blacksmith's Blues side quests to get the Ouroboros Design Draft.

2. The Sons of Ouroboros (Vambrace)

The Sons of Ouroboros is a vambrace that can go toe to toe with Ouroboros’ high defenses. They take the form of smooth leather cuffs that Clive wears on his wrists. It offers an exceptional Bonus Defense of 97 and a Bonus HP of 32. Among all accessories, The Sons of Ouroboros boast the highest defense points. And not only in writing, but when the stakes run high mid-battle.

How to Get The Sons of Ouroboros

Similar to Ouroboros, The Sons of Ouroboros need to be crafted, too. First, collect the required crafting materials, including one stained loincloth, one morbol flower, and one orichalcum, and hand them over at the Black Hammer in Cid’s Hideaway.

1. Berserker Ring (Accessory)

A major part of surviving Final Fantasy 16’s combat relies heavily on perfectly timed attacks and dodges. Even with the Precision Dodge ability, you have to perfectly time it and then accurately follow-up with a counterattack for it to take effect. Fortunately, you can use the Berserker Ring to increase the speed and power of your counterattacks a tad more, shedding some weight off of perfectly executing the combo.

Specifically, the Berserker Ring helps to attack much faster and deal more damage after each successful Precision Dodge. And, thus, boost your overall damage output. The only downside is that you still have to time your Precision Dodge correctly. Otherwise, the added advantage to the counterattack won’t help much. Still, it’s a unique perk that advanced players can master and take full advantage of with faster sword swings.

How to Get Berserker Ring

Berserker Ring only needs 85 Renown to acquire. Once you have it, you can get the ring as a “Pillow Talk” reward from the NPC, Desiree, at Cid’s Hideaway.
