Catto’s Post Office Review

Every game under the sun exists to the point that they easily slip under the radar. However, thanks to The Game Awards for Games Who Can’t Afford the Game Awards 2024 event, the gaming world got to see Catto’s Post Office’s trailer among the over 150 games featured at the Showcase.

And right off the bat, the game’s sweet, melodic tone and cute visuals nabbed the attention of viewers, so much so that gamers have already been studiously streaming it since its August 4, 2025, launch date.

If you happen to be hearing of the game for the first time, though, not to worry. You’ll find my thoughts about the game’s story, gameplay, and visuals in my Catto’s Post Office review below, to help you decide if it’s right for you.

Time for Mail Delivery’

Catto’s Post Office Review

Mail delivery is nothing new in gaming. The concept has been used and reused in so many titles, often cozy adventure games. Perhaps you’ve played Lake, which will remind you a lot about Catto’s Post Office

The idea behind the game is pretty simple. All you need to do to beat the game is deliver mail. That’s it. However, there are a few twists here and there, nothing too bonkers.

You meet the protagonist, a cat in a tuxedo. No, seriously. He means business when it comes to his role of delivering mail around town. Funny enough, he lives right next to the post office and doesn’t mind it at all.

It doesn’t take long, then, to head to the post office and begin your daily routine. Your assistant hands you your first parcel to deliver to your first customer, and off you go.

Unlike other mail delivery days, though, this one’s pretty special. It’s your birthday! Surely you must enjoy a day off, and I suppose our adorable cat-in-a-tux thought his customers would be the ones to give him a reason to boogie.

But alas, you arrive at your first customer’s shop, and they are all but clueless about your birthday. They don’t even wish you a great birthday. How sad?

Keep Your Head Up

And at this point, you get to decide whether to face the rest of the day with your head held high or cave in to your sadness. But with how bright and colorful Catto’s Post Office’s world is, you simply can’t help but to keep going on plastering a happy smile on your face.

There are five more deliveries to make, to the florist’s, the cafe, several businesses around town, all owned by cats. You need to head back to the post office to grab the next parcel, and then proceed to make the delivery. And in your back and forth, it’s made clear that this little town is all but occupied by fellow feline cuties.

So, buckle up. Several meows are coming your way. Nothing spammy, although you’ll be tempted, for sure, to press the “meow” button for your cat-in-a-tux. It’s the cutest sound, and perhaps the subtle differences made by the unique cats you meet ultimately make the meowing a most wholesome feature.

Help a Cat in Need

picking trash

You might think that it gets repetitive, going back and forth to fulfil mail deliveries. However, Catto’s Post Office finds a cheery way of keeping it fun. While making deliveries, some cats will ask for your help with certain tasks.

They’re often silly and simple, to be honest, and that’s me appreciating their nature. “Help a sweet grandma fetch her remote,” “Kick trash cans into the bin,” that sort of thing, that should take only a few seconds to complete. And once through, you leave your customer happier and much grateful.

There are other ways to spice up your delivery routines. For instance, you’ll run into adorable cats along the way who engage you in witty and funny conversation. And they just might need your help as well, fetching something, or helping them pick out a color for a mural they’re painting.

All of these make up the bulk of gameplay, besides the main “mail delivery” quests. And there’s no pressure whatsoever to complete one over the other. You can always veer off the main path and explore the numerous side quests Catto’s Post Office offers, and there’ll be no timer pressing you to rush through them.

The only thing is that the main path is the key to unlocking the story, which warms the heart with joy; you just can’t help but want to unravel it till the end.

A Job Well Done?

Catto’s Post Office Review

Unfortunately, the main and side quests don’t come with rewards (besides unraveling the story for the main quest). And it’s something that might disappoint some players who want an incentive to keep chasing side quests. Perhaps new costumes and accessories to dress up the cats would have been nice.

Alternatively, these tasks determine how many Achievements you unlock, with 18 total. And perhaps that might be the motivation you need to finish the game in full. This will need you to restart the game to find all of the achievements, which should take you roughly one hour to reach 100%

Oh, yes. Achievements do include locating certain collectibles, like some pretty cute rubber duckies shaped in the image of your cat in a tux. The rubber duckies reset after a while, so you can make it a regular thing if you’d like, searching for them behind crates, walls, trees, and so on.

Still, I suppose Catto’s Post Office could have added more variety in gameplay. Some more side quests like helping out the florist and cafe owners with more hands-on tasks like brewing coffee or delivering flowers to a sick friend, that sort of thing.

I’ll say, though, that Catto’s Post Office stresses its short runtime, at roughly under one hour. The developers don’t hide the fact that this is a short and sweet journey that will be straightforward in its purpose and themes. And what is Catto’s Post Office’s purpose?

Happy Belated?

Birthday

Still, no one has remembered your birthday. And the day seems to be damn near wrapping up without so much as a birthday wish. Yet, Catto’s Post Office has the subtlest clues for something sweet to come.

The cafe owner has hung your picture frame at his shop from last year’s birthday party, for example. Meanwhile, remember the cat painting the mural and asking what color you’d like? Well, it’s actually a mural designed after your own image. How cute?

So then, when you get the final delivery to take a parcel to the Town Hall, it almost feels predictable what’s going to happen. And yet, you can’t help but get giddy over actually having your suspicions confirmed. Happy birthday, Mr. Cat!

Warms the Heart

Catto’s Post Office Review

A pretty significant part that makes Catto’s Post Office so special is its audio and visual design. You listen to the most soothing tunes while delivering mail that consistently maintains sweet melodies. And it’s perfectly in tune with the bright colors that blend well together to portray a cheerful town.

The cats you meet match the colorful aesthetic and sound with their witty lines and adorable cat puns. And the environment design, too, is just as perfect, incorporating memorable easter eggs and charming areas to explore.

You can even interact with the environment in fun cat-like ways like slipping into boxes, kicking down flower pots, batting trees, hopping over paddles, and more. Your cat’s movement is true cat-like behavior, demonstrating just how accurate and passionate the developers must be about cats.

Oh, and you do get pictures of the real-life cats of the developers, I suppose, that inspired the unique designs of the cats you interact with in Catto’s Post Office.

Verdict

Catto’s Post Office Review

What more is there to say? Catto’s Post Office is simply perfect. And even in the instances that you may find flaws, they are beyond the nature and goal of what Catto’s Post Office is supposed to be.

You might find it a little on the shorter side, for example. Just under an hour, you should be able to achieve 100% completion. But trust me, every second of it will be spent wisely and without any regrets.

You’ll constantly be smiling, perhaps even bursting into laughter at the funny puns and writing. Even when you might wish there were more variety of side quests, the handful that exist are beyond cute and cozy.

They serve their full purpose of destressing your mind and body after a long day of work. They calm your nerves on a rainy day, and may even ease your senses after a heavy 100+ hour game.

Catto’s Post Office is incredibly sweet, full of warmth and joy. It fills your heart with calmness and relaxation. Even when you reach the end, you want to head back in and search for all the rubber duckies you might have missed.

It’s simply a short and sweet experience every gamer ought to try.

Short and Sweet

In just under an hour, you’ll have relaxed your nerves, feel your spirits lift, and regain the energy to pop back into a heavy JRPG or other. That’s the sole purpose of Catto’s Post Office, not to take too much of your time. Yet, in its short runtime, it intends to give you the most cozy experience in cat land, interacting with the most charming felines, playfully running around a surprisingly interactive world, and falling in love with meowing cat life, over and over and over again.
