Lollipop Chainsaw Is Making a Comeback After a Decade

The cult-classic hack and slash hit Lollipop Chainsaw will be making a return in the near future, according to its executive producer.

After a decade out of the spotlight, the adult-themed zombie game will be making a comeback on current-gen consoles. That's according to the game's executive producer, Yoshimi Yasuda, who announced it over on Twitter yesterday in a rather short but straightforward update.

Lollipop Chainsaw is back by Dragami Games. Please look forward to it,” the post read. Unfortunately, the industry veteran failed to clarify whether or not the game will be a sequel, a remake, or a full-on reboot. It's also unclear whether the game will even release this year. At present, we can only assume it'll be in the near future, as the game recently celebrated its tenth anniversary.

The good news, of course, is that Lollipop Chainsaw will finally be playable again after a seriously long hiatus. And, given the fact it was never made backwards compatible, it means new players will be able to experience it for the first time without any drawbacks. That means OG fans won't have to dust off the Xbox 360 to relive its highlights all over again, thankfully.

What is Lollipop Chainsaw?

Lollipop Chainsaw follows Juliet, a zombie-slaying cheerleader from San Romero High. After an outbreak engulfs the school in flames, the candy-loving maniac looks to resurrect her boyfriend by killing a nexus of zombie faction leaders. With nothing but a chainsaw and the severed head of her dearly beloved strapped to her waist, the tenacious hero works to restore the balance and reclaim San Romero from its undead oppressors.
