Grand Theft Auto IV Gets Fan-Made Remake

Rockstar Games' universally acclaimed open-world phenomenon Grand Theft Auto IV has been rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5.

To Rockstar fans, a remake of GTA IV is beyond overdue. To Rockstar, though, the ship has already sailed, and it's unlikely that the game will receive its well-deserved TLC anytime soon. Not that this is an issue anymore, thanks to TeaserPlay, a channel that has devoted enough time into rebuilding Liberty City from the ground up using Unreal Engine 5.

TeaserPlay, a YouTube handle that produces next-level concept trailers, recently sunk its teeth into Niko Bellic's tale in an all-new reimagined preview. Like trailers that have come before, it showed off a major graphical and technical overhaul, with Liberty City looking even more remarkable than its 2008 original. Unfortunately, though, the short clip was all TeaserPlay could conjure up. And as far as a fully-fledged remake goes, that's still a ways off.

It Could Happen

Anyway, this short but bittersweet trailer is an insight into what could potentially be, and what Rockstar could seek to capitalize on outside of its current commitments. As far as Rockstar is concerned at present, though, Grand Theft Auto IV is yesterday's news. Grand Theft Auto VI, on the other hand, is in full swing, and it's likely to take the whole of the studio's workforce to bring it to life.

Of course, this isn't to say it'll never happen. But the chances of seeing a revival of the fourth instalment before the release of the sixth are astronomically low. Still, if the demand is there, then it's sure to happen at some point.
