Dead Island 2 is a game that often encourages players to look around every corner, in every nook and cranny. Players often find that there is something to be enjoyed when tye go off the beaten path. This is great as it encourages players to explore the landscape the developers have created in search of various goodies and rewards. That being said, sometimes simply finding an Easter Egg in the game can be enough to bring the player enjoyment. So without further ado, here are our picks for the Best Easter Eggs in Dead Island 2.

5. Content Creation Easter Eggbest mods and perks

One of the most on-the-nose Easter Eggs within the game is when the game's resident YouTuber, Amanda, makes a joke about not being able to swear, specifically in the first parts of her video. This is in reference to the platform's strict rules regarding profanities. Anyone who has been following a YouTuber for quite some time will definitely know about the strikes. Unfortunately, as the company issues, its creators strikes quite often. This makes for a rather subtle but appreciated Easter Egg for players to find. Players will be able to find Amanda on one of the many roofs in the game, where this Easter Egg will unfold.

In order to trigger this Easter Egg, all players really have to do is hand around Amanda enough until this line of dialogue pops up. So while it may not be the most enthralling Easter Egg, it is still pretty funny upon witnessing it. This makes this one of the best Easter Eggs within Dead Island 2, but we have only just begun. So if you are someone who frequents Youtube, we are sure you will enjoy this Easter Egg.

4. Youtube Apology Easter Egg

For our next entry, we have an Easter Egg entry that is, in many ways, in the same vein as the first one. The overly scripted Youtube apology has almost become synonymous with the platform itself. There have been many content creators that have had to issue one of these apologies. The reasons may vary, but the scripted nature and unsincere feeling still remain. This can be seen even with Dead Island 2, a game that is constantly poking fun at Youtube culture and the like. Now as for how to find these apologies in the game, that is also pretty simple.

As players make their way through the game, they will have to enter the Goat Pen house. It is within this house that they will find a whiteboard with a very scripted apology on it. This clearly is in reference to the many scandals and subsequent apologies that are made on Youtube. Also, this is in clear reference to the popular idea of influencers sharing a house and somewhat morphing it into their own influencer space. All in all, this Easter Egg is one of the more on-the-nose entries within Dead Island 2. But that doesn't stop it from being funny when you come across it.

3. The Streamy Awards

Keeping with the same theme. Our next Easter Egg, which is one that pokes fun at streamers and the concept overall. At the same time, there are many different references to this concept throughout the game. There are a few in particular that stand out. Players will be able to find large plaques on a wall that are in reference to the Streamy awards, a cheeky reference to the Stream awards that are often given out to popular streamers.

In the game itself, however, these are known as Squirm Awards. This Easter Egg does a wonderful job of poking at the streaming industry but is far from the only reference to this line of work in the game. Players can find entire bedrooms made out to look like a streamer's bedroom. This even comes complete with a pool and inflatables, which really sell what type of content they were creating within the game's lore. To close, this is a nice tongue-in-cheek reference to one of the most popular aspects of popular culture today.

2. The Many Movie ReferencesDead Island 2 First Week Sales

It is no surprise and should come as a shock to no one, that Dead Island 2, being set in LA, has a ton of movie references. After all, there is an entire segment of the game in which players move from movie set to movie set, fighting off the horde. Each of these stages has its own references, which is really neat to see. This gives this Easter Egg a ton of content to explore. For movie and or TV buffs, this Easter Egg is phenomenal. There are references to things such as The ShiningDawn of the Dead, and so much more.

These are scattered throughout Hell-A and will definitely give the player a chuckle when they find them. For example, during one of the game's missions, Beach Offensive, there is a reference to The Shining. Players can find the words redrum scrawled on one of the heavy industrial, military doors. This is in clear reference to the horror classic. However, there are many more Easter Eggs like this for players to go out and explore. While we won't spoil every one of them, they are fantastic to see.

1. Who Do You Voodoo?

Another reference that makes frequent appearances throughout the game's runtime is a reference to the first Dead Island. This can be seen when players simply stick around the returning character Sam B. Sam B will be referenced multiple times throughout the game. And sometimes, if you spend enough time around him, he will start spouting the lyrics from the song that filled the first game's trailer. Again, this is a nice little nod to the first game and certainly feels cool to come across.

Even other characters within the game reference this song often. It is often played off as a gag that people should remember who Sam B is due to the song's popularity. In conclusion, this Easter Egg doesn't do anything revolutionary but is just a simple nod to the first game and one of its characters. This simplicity, as well as the catchiness of the song, makes it one of the best Dead Island 2 Easter Eggs.
