World of Warcraft Dragonflight: 5 Things You Should Know
World of Warcraft is set to receive its ninth expansion next month, which of course means Azeroth and its interconnecting regions are about to fatten up, with the Dragon Isles finally set to make its grand debut. But what else can we come to expect of the long-standing MMORPG this November? Will Dragonflight be the final expansion to release this decade? Here's everything you need to know about it.
5. What Is Dragonflight?
World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is the ninth expansion in the long-standing MMORPG, which is currently set to release on PC and Mac on November 28, 2022. The instalment, which will add an additional layer to the vanilla version of Azeroth, will be separate from World of Warcraft Classic, which has recently upgraded to Wrath of the Lich King Classic. You need a subscription to the base game to be able to play either of these.
So, what's new with Dragonflight? Well, according to Blizzard Entertainment, the expansion will introduce a brand new network of floating islands named the Dragon Isles, along with a brand new race-and-class combo — Dracthyr Evoker — a powerful being that has the power to freely switch between a humanoid and a draconic form for the purpose of battling deadly foes. This, along with a slew of new dungeons, raids, a revamped Talent Tree and boosted level cap, will make up the bulk of the expansion, with plenty more peppered on the side.
4. The Dragon Isles Have Awoken
After centuries of sitting dormant in the faraway clouds, the Dragon Isles have awoken to a new threat. As the revived draconic race, the Dracthyr Evoker, players will return to protect their long-forgotten heritage and reclaim the Dragon Isles, one piece at a time.
Dragonflight places you in the cloudy network of floating islands as a Dracthyr Evoker, a human-dragon hybrid that must return to their ancestral home to resurrect old secrets and fashion new tools to rid the threat that disrupts its elemental magic. A new epic journey is about to begin, and you're invited to play your part in the rediscovery of the mysterious Dragon Isles.
3. Key Features
New story arc aside, Dragonflight will also bundle in a plethora of new features, including a variety of zone-locked dungeons and raids, and a nifty selection of customizable cosmetics and weapons. You can see a full breakdown of what's to come in the upcoming expansion below.
- Level Cap: 70
- Race/Class: Dracthyr Evoker
- Flying Mounts: Dragons (Go figure.)
- Dungeons: Neltharus, Uldaman, and Life Pools
- Raid: Primal Incarnates
- Zones: The Waking Shores, Ohn'ahran Plains, The Azure Span, Thaldraszus, and Forbidden Reach
