It's been a long-anticipated wait for Sony Interactive Entertainment and Guerilla Games to release their sequel for Horizon Zero Dawn. Well, the wait is finally over as Horizon Forbidden West has finally launched on PS4 and PS5.

The game is being released at 12 a.m. on February 18 at local times. Meaning, the game becomes accessible depending on when your local time hit's the mark. Don't sweat though, the game can be pre-downloaded on PS4 and PS5 right now, so you can launch as soon as it's available. I would recommend downloading the game early, as the file size is roughly 90 GB varying on your region and if you are playing on PS4 and PS5.

What You Need to Know

Right upon loading up the game you will need to decide between the “Guided” and “Explorer” mode. The guided mode will highlight locations, objectives, and other indicators to help guide players through the map. The explorer mode still offers these ques but in a much more discreet and minimal way. If you like investigating, getting side-tracked, and making your way about the game as you please, then the explorer mode will be a good fit for you. The one you choose depends on your playstyle, but don't worry you can switch between them at any point in the game.

The map is also massive, and it is beneficial to familiarize yourself with it. You will most likely be wandering about the map aimlessly at first getting distracted by the beautiful landscape. And I don't blame you, half my time in this game will be soaking in the visuals and taking screenshots. However, it is good to know the map is separated into four distinct sections.

You will start in The Daunt, which puts you in the far right corner of the map. After breaking through this area you will step into No Man's Land. This area open's up the map wider and increases the standard difficulty. Following is Still Sands, this is where you really start to get into the thick of it. Lastly, nearing the end game is the Isle of Spires which aesthetically is jaw-dropping.
