Genius Sports Stock Jumps on Polymarket Streaming and Data Deal
Genius Sports (GENI ) announced a wide-ranging US partnership with prediction market Polymarket on August 4, 2026, and the market liked what it heard: the London-headquartered sports data company’s shares rose more than 14% on the New York Stock Exchange following the news, peaking at $8.08, SBC News reported.
The agreement, effective immediately, hands Polymarket exclusive streaming rights and league IP across selected official competitions, alongside official data and integrity services for its US platform, which is regulated by the federal derivatives watchdog, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. US users get access to exclusive live match streaming alongside related real-time event contracts, including Serie A coverage. Genius Sports‘ official data will determine the outcome and settlement of covered contracts, so each market resolves against the same verified event information supplied to professional leagues.
“Trust, transparency and innovation are fundamental to the long-term development of sports prediction markets,” said Ari Borod, President of Sports Business Development at Polymarket. “Our partnership with Genius Sports gives professional leagues direct visibility into prediction market activity around their competitions.”
“By bringing together official data, live streaming, league IP, integrity services and the reach of our Legend media network, we are helping Polymarket deliver a differentiated and trusted experience for sports fans across the US,” added Sean Conroy, EVP of Rights and Partnerships at Genius Sports.
What the Genius Sports and Polymarket deal includes
The deal is more than a data licence. Polymarket will participate in Genius Sports’ integrity information-sharing processes, giving leagues and governing bodies greater visibility into market activity around their competitions and enabling real-time coordination around irregular trading patterns. The arrangement sits alongside Polymarket’s existing market-surveillance and compliance infrastructure, according to the announcement.
For Polymarket, the agreement extends a sports infrastructure that now spans official league partnerships with MLB, Liga MX, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, MLS, NHL and UFC. It is the platform’s second Genius-backed league arrangement in two months, after a June 10, 2026 sponsorship agreement that made Polymarket the exclusive prediction market partner of Liga MX in the US.
Genius Sports, meanwhile, will push Polymarket’s expansion through its digital marketing solutions, including media properties owned by Legend, the digital sports and gaming media network it acquired for $1.2 billion in a deal that closed on May 1, 2026. The Polymarket partnership is the first clear public example of Legend’s media reach being deployed as commercial leverage inside a Genius data deal, the synergy case the company made when it signed the acquisition.
A recovery from the Legend sell-off
The 14% pop carries extra weight because of where the stock has been. Genius shares traded around $11 at the start of 2026, then sold off hard after the Legend deal was announced on February 5, 2026, falling as low as $3.92. At one point in April 2026 the company’s market value dropped below the $1.2 billion price of the acquisition itself. The shares have now recovered to a market capitalisation above $2.1 billion, per the SBC News report.
First-quarter results underlined the operational side of that recovery. Revenue grew 31% year over year and adjusted EBITDA 21%, with management raising 2026 guidance and targeting a 28% adjusted EBITDA margin following the Legend acquisition.
The deal also lands in the middle of a US prediction-markets boom that has drawn both capital and regulatory heat. State lawmakers have put prediction markets on notice over gambling, while IG Group agreed to buy Underdog in a $1.3 billion move into the sector. Genius Sports is positioning itself as the integrity-and-data layer the category runs on, rather than an operator inside it.
What happens next for Genius Sports
The agreement is live now, with Polymarket’s US markets across selected Genius Sports official leagues and competitions already available to eligible US users.
The next dated test arrives before markets open on August 6, 2026, when Genius Sports reports second-quarter results, the first quarter to include the Legend business at all. The company confirmed the date on July 28, 2026. Investors who pushed the stock up on the Polymarket announcement will be watching for what the combined media-and-data business actually earns.
