Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Sets October Netflix Premiere
CD PROJEKT RED has set a premiere date for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, the second anime series built on the Cyberpunk 2077 universe: the show lands exclusively on Netflix on October 20, 2026. The Warsaw-based publisher paired the date with a new trailer, released through its official announcement.
The series runs ten episodes and tells a standalone story, meaning viewers do not need to have seen the first season, 2022’s Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. CD PROJEKT RED again produced the show in collaboration with Japanese animation studio TRIGGER, the partnership behind the original. The publisher describes the new season as a story of revenge and redemption, following a fresh cast whose lives intersect across Night City, the setting of the game.
The trailer follows earlier teaser material shown at the Anime Expo panel. The premiere date of October 20, 2026 now firms that window into a specific day.
Who Is Making Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2
The creative team carries over from the first season in reworked roles, per the credits published on the series’ official website. Kai Ikarashi, who worked on the original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, directs the new season, with Ichigo Kanno returning as lead character designer. The story comes from Bartosz Sztybor, the CD PROJEKT RED writer and showrunner whose work on the first season won a Hugo Award, alongside TRIGGER’s Masahiko Otsuka on screenplay adaptation.
The new cast is built around characters the official site introduces in detail. Weak, once a legendary edgerunner known as “King,” is now forced to live without cyberware as he searches for purpose in a city that has moved past him. D, a Snake Nation netrunner voiced by Koki Uchiyama, hunts the killer who wiped out his clan. The ensemble also includes Roman, a young cinephile documenting real stories in a city that has abandoned film for braindance, and Talia, raised in corporate towers but hardened inside the Maelstrom gang.
The Road to the October 20, 2026 Premiere
The sequel’s path to a dated release has run through three public milestones, all handled through CD PROJEKT RED’s own channels rather than a Netflix upfront. The company confirmed the series was in production during its panel at Anime Expo in Los Angeles in July 2025, revealing the logo and poster art and naming Ikarashi as director at the event, which ran July 2–6 that year. The official website established the fall 2026 window and Netflix exclusivity ahead of the dated announcement. The August 21, 2026 announcement completes the sequence with the date itself.
The marketing campaign has extended beyond trailers.
What the Anime Means for CD PROJEKT’s Flagship Franchise
Cyberpunk 2077 tie-in products have generated almost 70 million PLN, per CD PROJEKT’s 2025 results. The company reported in its 2025 full-year results that Cyberpunk 2077 had surpassed 35 million copies sold, with its Phantom Liberty expansion past 10 million. The first Cyberpunk: Edgerunners season made Sztybor a Hugo Award-winning writer, and CD PROJEKT has cited tie-in products as a way to keep franchises in front of players between releases.
The next concrete step on the calendar is the premiere itself: all ten episodes of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 arrive exclusively on Netflix on October 20, 2026, and the show is already listed on the service for viewers to add to their watchlists ahead of release.
