Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Release Date

Infinity Ward has revealed another multiplayer map for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, known as Farm 18. This reveal comes ahead of its major unveiling event in September.

Developers discussed their design ideas and process for the Farm 18 map in a TikTok video reposted on Twitter. Farm 18 is a true industrial masterpiece, as it is set in a massive cement factory. According to Geoff Smith, the map’s multiplayer designer, the miniature Shoot House map from Modern Warfare 2 was an inspiration. This new and improved edition features a larger map with a Shoot House-style segment in the middle and more open areas on the map’s periphery. We can see the graybox for Farm 18 while developers were still working on it. It gives us a glimpse of the unfinished map.

“What if we put a Shoot House-type situation in the middle–you really want to play that crazy game, you go to the center, and that action will find you–if you want to pull back and play a different way, it’s still available to you,” Smith said.

After the designers had drawn out the map, senior artist Ashley Thundercliff created the aesthetic. According to Thundercliff, it was difficult to strike a good balance when deciding how much vegetation should be included on the map.

“If we go too dense with the foliage, we have people hiding in the corners; if we don’t go dense enough, we don’t sell the narrative of the overgrowth,” Thundercliffe said.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Launch Date

Infinity Ward had earlier revealed another map, Marina Grand Prix. Both maps will be in the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer beta. The beta launches on September 16 for PlayStation and will roll out to more platforms later. Additionally, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will launch on October 28th, 2022, for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC.
