Best Racers in Disney Speedstorm

Published

 on

Aside from Mickey Mouse, Donald, and Goofy—the golden trio that, quite frankly, doesn’t exactly need an introduction in this day and age, there are plenty of other solid racers to check out on the Disney Speedstorm roster. Matter of fact, at the time of writing, there are actually fifteen great alternatives to choose from, all of whom have just as many reasons to wave the checkered flag as the beloved poster children of the Disney-Pixar universe. Question is, which of the said fifteen (or eighteen, if we’re counting the bog-standard trio) are actually worth putting behind the wheel?

Before we start unraveling the intricacies and other key features from the active roster, it is worth pointing out that Disney Speedstorm, in its current state at least, has only just found its foothold. As a result of this, there aren’t all that many characters to choose from yet. For argument’s sake, however, here are the five racers we’d recommend picking up and fleshing out first.

5. Mike Wazowski

In spite of his top-speed being a little slower than most other racers on the docket, Mike does make up for the lack of acceleration with another skill—a unique ability known as Hold the Door, which essentially allows the player to spawn doors on the circuit and travel through them to get an immediate advantage over distance. What’s more, it also doubles up as an offensive ability, as it aims to pocket rival racers and knock them farther back along the track, too.

As a Speedster, Mike is naturally more likely to create wider gaps on the track than, for example, a common Trickster or Defender. Plus, with an entire team taken directly from the Monsters Inc. roster, and not to mention some of the best Crew Members’ abilities to make use of, there really is no reason to gloss over the fledgling scarer.

4. Belle

Yet another Speedster that’s worth putting into practice is Belle, a well-balanced racer that not only has a surprisingly lofty top-speed, but great handling capabilities, too. What’s more, thanks to the power of the Beauty and the Beast crew casting a shimmering glow over the princess’ back, the belle of the ball has the potential to be the ultimate force to be reckoned with. And that, really, is why she’s considered one of, if not the best character in Disney Speedstorm. Plus, with the Enchanted Mirror ability to make use of, which essentially boosts the overall speed for a short burst of time, it’s a real no-brainer.

To give Belle an even greater advantage in the power department, consider assigning either Mrs. Potts or Chip to the roster, as both of these Crew Members have the power to double both the top speed and boost attributes. Or better yet, consider balancing the board ever so slightly and settling for Fifi for even better handling.

3. Mickey Mouse

It comes as no major surprise that the likes of Mickey Mouse has one of the highest stat sliders in the entire game, to be fair. Makes sense, seeing as the vast majority of newcomers are more likely to stick with what they know than what’s somewhat unfamiliar at first glance. And you can’t go wrong, either, as the poster child of the brand is, for lack of a better word, perfect. What’s more, with the Trailblazer ability in tow, the character has all the necessities of a great all-rounder—a jack-of-all-trades, if you like.

There is a slight downside to using Mickey out on the track — and that’s the top-speed. Unfortunately, it isn’t overly high, whereas the other skills, such as acceleration and handling, are arguably some of the best in the whole game. No matter, though, as a couple of speed-focused Crew Members, such as Morty and Ferdie Fieldmouse, can pretty much bring those shortcomings up to speed in no time. Literally.

2. Donald Duck

There’s a reason why so many newcomers are flocking to the beloved Duck’s side, and it’s mainly down to the fact that, ability-wise, Donald’s Why I Outta… skill is hands down one of the most effective offensive moves in the entire game. It doubles up as a defensive weapon, too, as it not only provides players with a shield to fend off oncoming attacks, but also serves as a powerful force field that can stun opponents at the flick of a switch. And honestly, that’s the sort of thing you’ll want in a world like Disney Speedstorm.

As a Brawler, Donald begins with a significant advantage in the acceleration and combat sections. That said, where the temperamental duck thrives in combat scenarios and other sticky situations, there’s still plenty of room to expand in the top-speed and boost departments. Fortunately for the Mickey & Friends team, there are Crew Members including Chief O’Hara and Pedro, to lend a helping hand in your journey to the apex of everlasting stardom.

1. Mulan

As far as Tricksters go, Mulan is definitely the racer you’ll want to slot into your active roster. Why? Well, for starters, the dragon-loving warrior has an ability—an offensive one known as Firework Barrage, which basically fires hard-hitting projectiles at enemies from afar. Sure enough, it not only has the power to stun other racers, but also put them out of commission for extended periods of time, too. Add the fact that Mulan also has a pretty nifty starting acceleration and boost slider, and you’ll start to see why the Trickster has become an all-time favorite.

To max out on Mulan’s character arc, you’re going to want to assign the Epic chip, Mushu, to your team, as he’ll essentially provide you with the tools needed to make full use of the Firework Barrage special attack. To go one step further, aim to bring aboard Crew Members such as Khan or The Emperor of China for an additional combat and top-speed boost.
