Our next entry on this list is Battlefield 1. Met with equal parts hype and confusion and trepidation upon its release. This game had a rough start. However, the developers improved the game into one of the most polished and satisfying Battlefield experiences on the market. In fact, the game has garnered so much attention that players who abandoned the game at launch have since gone back, and the community is now alive again. The sound design and environmental design for this game are simply stunning and some of the developer's best work to date.

Despite releasing quite some time ago, the game graphically still is jaw-dropping. This is a testament to the hard work put in by both the art design team, as well as many others. That isn't all there is to the game, either. Because the game features one of the better single-player offerings from a Battlefield title. This campaign ranges in the characters it portrays and how it portrays them, making for an extremely well-rounded experience. To close, regardless if you played at launch or are completely new to the title, Battlefield 1 is certainly one of the best FPS games on Xbox Game Pass to date.

3. Titanfall 2Apex Universe single-player

Titanfall 2, much like other titles on this list, is a game that did not receive its flowers at launch. Featuring some of the smoothest and most kinetic FPS gameplay mechanics we have ever seen. The game, unfortunately, was overshadowed upon release. That hasn't stopped many players from rallying behind the game, as its developer Respawn Entertainment has built up a lot of positive relationships with its fanbase. Added to this is the fact that they went on to create Apex Legends, a massively successful game that employs many of the same FPS mechanics as Titanfall 2.

That isn't all that this game has to offer players, either. The game also features a stellar campaign that serves as a shining example of what FPS campaigns can be. So if you are looking for a title with a fantastic map and combat design, look no further than Titanfall 2. While this game may have been released some time ago, the combat is still as kinetic and stellar as ever. 2. Far Cry 5

Far Cry 5 is the most open-world entry on this list today. That isn't to say that the Fps mechanics in the game are any worse, either. Quite the contrary. The game allows players to embrace the sandbox they are given to approach combat in any number of interesting ways. The ability for players to customize their weapons and scrounge for resources also feels fantastic. For players unfamiliar with the Far Cry series, the game typically takes place in an open world, where players are able to attack objectives to their heart's content.

This proves to be a winning formula as players can really attempt to push the limits of what is possible in the game. In Far Cry 5, for example, players are able to tackle the challenge of fighting against cult leaders. This is great as players can attack these characters in any way they see fit, in any order they wish. This does a ton of great work for player agency as a whole. All in all, Far Cry 5 is a phenomenal FPs experience that players should definitely check out on Xbox Game Pass.

1. Doom Eternal

In terms of FPS mechanics, Doom Eternal serves as the pinnacle of what is available today. The act of defeating demons has never felt so satisfying. While many players enjoyed Doom(2016), Doom Eternal takes what was great about that game and ramps it up to eleven. So if you enjoyed the resurgence of Doom, definitely check out Doom Eternal. You most certainly won't be disappointed, as the experience this game provides has been curated to perfection.

The game also does a great job of introducing more RPG mechanics in order to make the game feel more unique from its predecessor. This works wonders as it allows the player to tweak their character to their liking. This goes a long way in making the game feel rewarding and satisfying to play for long periods of time. Added to this fact is the stunning soundtrack of the game, which will keep your FPS-fueled blood pumping.
