Best Build for Sora in Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix

Updated on

Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix arriving on PC has given us a good excuse to reroute our eyes and return to the boroughs of Destiny Island and beyond. However, if you’re relatively new to the series, or if you’re simply looking to onboard a wealth of fresh information that’ll help you to find a foothold in the game, then we might be able to help you out. In other words, if you’re after the best build for Sora in Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix, then be sure to read on for a few quick pointers.

Best Weapon for Sora in Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix

Ultima Weapon

When it comes to fending off Heartless in Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix, you’re going to want a blade that’s not only packing in Strength (STR), but MP, too. To obtain such an artifact, you’re also going to need to put in a fair amount of work; in fact, to actually obtain the all-powerful Ultima Weapon—a weapon that touts +14 STR and +2 MP—you will first need to unlock the Moogle’s Synthesis Shop, which can be accessed via the Accessory Shop Trinity in Traverse Town.

Once you’ve unlocked the Synthesis Shop in Traverse Town, you will need to shovel through all of the recipes on the menu, after which the blueprint for the Ultima Weapon will become available to synthesize. However, to actually craft the Ultima Weapon, you will need to locate the following items:

  • [05] Thunder Gem
  • [05] Mystery Goo
  • [03] Serenity Power
  • [03] Stormy Stone
  • [03] Dark Matter

It is worth pointing out here that, whilst you can obtain several of the above ingredients from most of the available worlds, certain items—Stormy Stones, for example, can only be obtained in The End of the World. In addition to the Stormy Stones, which can be a bit of a pain in the backside to locate, there are also Serenity Powers to dig out—rarities that can only be obtained in either Atlantica or Deep Jungle by casting Stop on a Pink Agaricus. Note that you will need to land roughly fifty successful hits in order to boost your chances of acquiring a Serenity Power.

Once you’ve completed the Synthesis phase and located all of the items in the above list, simply return to Traverse Town and speak with the Moogle above the Accessory Shop to craft the Ultima Weapon.

Best Accessories for Sora in Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix

Accessories play a key role in Sora’s development as a fledgling Heartless assassin. Scratch that — they’re essential to your success, and definitely things that you’ll want to keep tabs on as you carve through the nexus of worlds aboard your trusty Gummi Ship. The question is, which Accessories should you aim to bolt on to your keychain?

Crystal Crown

Without doubt, the only Accessory that you really need in Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix is the Crystal Crown, a trinket that not only boosts your HP by 6, but also your Defence, MP, AP, and Strength by a significant amount, too. In other words, it’s the all-in-one accessory that has all of the hallmark qualities of a perfect sidekick. And, as luck would have it, you can also synthesize several of these in the Synthesis Shop.

Of course, there is a slight downfall to all of this: you do need to locate several rare ingredients, which consist of the following items:

  • [5] Lucid Crystal
  • [1] Power Crystal
  • [1] Shiny Crystal
  • [3] Blazing Stone
  • [3] Frost Stone

In addition to the above objective, you will also need to sift through the first four tiers of the Synthesis catalog in Traverse Town. Once done, you will have access to the Crystal Crown accessory.

Best Magic Build for Sora in Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix

Curaga

As you’ll come to learn relatively early on in the story, magic is arguably one of the most powerful tools in Sora’s arsenal—so much, in fact, that failing to upgrade it in all the right places can lead to a rather bitter fate during some of the tougher boss battles. The good news here is that, while several crucial spells can require a bit of extra effort to earn, the most valuable—Curaga—can be acquired from simply slugging through Hollow Bastion and beating the Behemoth. After that, the only thing that you need to do is speak to Aerith in the Library.

Stopga

The second spell that you’ll want to hardwire into your go-to toolkit is Stop, an ability that allows you to pause your enemy’s movements for several seconds at a time, and essentially unleash a plethora of gut-busting combos. To acquire Stopaga—the third and final tier in the chosen spell—you will need to defeat the secret boss, Phantom, in Neverland. To activate this battle, simply head to the cabin aboard the ship after sealing the keyhole, and speak with Tinkerbell.

NOTE: Phantom can be a little tricky to beat, so make sure that you’ve reached a good level before initiating the battle sequence. Ideally, you’ll want to be Lvl 60 at the bare minimum.

Graviga

Yet another excellent spell-heavy port of call for those trickier battles in Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix is Graviga, a move that has the power to inflict enormous amounts of damage on your opponent, as well as render them completely useless for follow-up attacks and combos. To obtain the highest level of the spell, you will need to sift through all of the available Cups in Olympus Coliseum; the Hades Cup will reward you with the spell.

Thundaga

Of all the trio of core spells that you can utilize in Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix—Fire, Blizzard, and Thunder—the latter is, in all honesty, the best of the bunch. Granted, casting Thunder can cost you a large chunk of MP, however the payload is definitely worth it, as it delivers some of the best damage, and is also great for crowd control, too. To earn Thundaga, simply compete in the Hades Cup at the Olympus Coliseum, and defeat Cerberus.
