Aspyr Announces DreamWorks Shrek 2 Remastered for PC and Consoles
Aspyr, in collaboration with Universal, announced DreamWorks Shrek 2 Remastered on October 20, 2026, a rebuilt edition of the 2004 action-adventure game inspired by the DreamWorks Animation film. The title launches November 10, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, with digital pre-orders live on all five platforms.
The announcement, datelined Austin, Texas, describes the release as the definitive edition of the 2004 game. Aspyr said the remaster adds improved visuals and new features, including a photo mode, the ability to swap characters on the fly across all platforms, and online and local co-op for up to four players.
The game featured in the October 20, 2026 ID@XBOX x IGN Showcase, per Xbox Wire’s same-day recap of the event, which confirmed pre-orders opened on Xbox Series X|S that day. An official announce trailer, titled “DreamWorks Shrek 2 Remastered – Official Announce Trailer | PRE-ORDER NOW!”, is hosted on Aspyr’s YouTube channel. The official game site lists the trailer in a media gallery alongside a launch trailer, a gameplay trailer, and three short videos, each marked as coming soon.
Pre-Order Pricing and Discount Terms
DreamWorks Shrek 2 Remastered carries a standard price of $29.99, with a 10% pre-order discount bringing that figure to $26.99 on all platforms. Aspyr’s announcement notes a PlayStation Plus subscription is required to receive the discount on PlayStation 5.
On Xbox, Game Pass members receive up to 20% off the pre-order and non-members receive 10%, in an offer running through November 9, 2026, according to Xbox Wire. The Steam listing carries the $29.99 price with the 10% pre-purchase discount to $26.99 and lists the promotion as ending November 17, 2026. The Epic Games Store listing lists its sale as ending November 10, 2026, at 12:00 PM EST and notes the discounted figure is the lowest price offered on the store in the 30 days before the discount.
Rebuilt Visuals and New Features
Aspyr said everything in the remaster has been rebuilt, citing better textures, an enhanced user interface, 4K resolution, and cutscenes. A footnote in the announcement limits 4K resolution to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 in docked mode.
New features include a Photo Mode for in-game snapshots and a Cheats Menu through which players unlock cheats. Players can swap heroes at any point, using each character’s distinct abilities to fight enemies, defeat bosses, and work through environmental puzzles. Levels span from Shrek’s swamp to the castle of Far Far Away and revisit moments from the film with hidden Easter Eggs, according to the feature list.
The game supports solo play or groups of up to four across couch co-op, online multiplayer, and a mixed mode combining the two. The announcement describes the result as a “cozy, team-based co-op action-adventure game.” Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, and friends return, with players taking control of Shrek heroes in combat against characters drawn from across the franchise.
Store Listings and PC Requirements
The Epic Games Store listing carries an ESRB rating of Everyone 10+, citing Fantasy Violence and Comic Mischief, and tags the game with co-op, cross-platform, local multiplayer, and online multiplayer features. The listing also states an Epic ID login is required. Steam lists Aspyr Media as both developer and publisher, categorizes the game as Adventure, and lists single-player, multiplayer, Steam Achievements, and Family Sharing support. The game’s store description bills it as a “cult-classic, button-mashing co-op adventure.”
Steam lists 12 supported languages with full audio in English, while Epic’s listing states English audio with text in 12 languages.
Steam’s minimum requirements call for a 64-bit installation of Windows 10 or 11, a Ryzen 5 5600 or Core i5-12400F processor, 16 GB of RAM, a Radeon RX 7600 or RX 6700 XT or a GeForce RTX 4060 or RTX 3060 Ti graphics card, DirectX 12, and 12 GB of available storage.
