Ubisoft Pulls Out of E3 2023

Ubisoft has announced that it will not be attending the upcoming E3 event in Los Angeles, which is scheduled to take place in June. Instead, the game development company will hold its own Ubisoft Forward Live event on June 12. The event will also take place in Los Angeles.

The announcement comes after Ubisoft was the first major company to commit to attending the revamped E3 event last month. However, in a statement to VGC, the company explained that it has decided to “move in a different direction.”

“While we initially intended to have an official E3 presence, we’ve made the subsequent decision to move in a different direction and will be holding a Ubisoft Forward Live event on June 12 in Los Angeles. We look forward to sharing more details with our players very soon,” the statement read.

Ubisoft’s decision to step away from E3 2023 is a significant blow to the event, as the company has been a staunch supporter of E3 in the past. CEO Yves Guillemot had previously expressed his support for the event’s 2023 plans. This move leaves the E3 event in a precarious position, as it is now less than three months away. No major company has been officially announced as attending. Nintendo and Xbox have already confirmed that they will be skipping the event. On the other hand, Xbox will have a presence in Los Angeles during the same window.

E3 2023 will take place from June 13 to June 16 at the iconic Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC). E3 2023’s “Digital Week”  will begin on Sunday, June 11. Digital events, including The PC Gaming Show, The Future Games Show, Guerilla Collective, and Black Voices in Gaming, fall under this category. The organizers will announce the full roster of exhibitors in the lead-up to the expo. Participating companies will also have the opportunity to make individual announcements beforehand.
