5 Reasons You Should Play Persona 3 Portable

InPersona 3 Portable has made its way to the major home consoles. These are the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, respectively. These versions of the game offer players the chance to experience Persona 3 in a whole new way. Being able to experience the remaster on modern hardware can really make a difference in how the game is enjoyed. As well as its presentation. So without further ado, here are 5 Reasons You Should Play Persona 3 Portable.

5. A Fresh Coat of Paint

The fact that the game is available on modern consoles means that the graphical fidelity will be significantly increased from its past versions. Or even the PC version of the game. The game has the ability to run at 1080p resolution and 60 fps. This makes for a much smoother experience for players overall. This adds to the game's mass appeal and allows it to be enjoyed by a wider audience.

Added to this is that players will be able to enjoy the game with a few systems from Persona 5 thrown in. The success of Persona 5 no doubt influenced this decision. In bringing over some of the features from that game into this remaster. There are also many different localization options in this remaster. These make it a tad more accessible than the original title. So these options are a welcome addition for sure. While the cutscenes have been scrapped for a more visual novel-style cutscene throughout the game. The way that the dungeons are presented, however, is quite different as these are fully rendered in 3D. All In all, the fresh coat of paint on this game is enough to warrant a playthrough in and of itself.

4. Tired in Tartarus?

Added to the modern version of the game is the significant change that player's party members will not get tired during their time in Tartarus. Instead, this is reserved for after they leave. This means that players will have a much easier time working around this mechanic. This is because instead of accidently spending too much time there. Players will be able to enjoy the procedurally generated floors to their heart's content.

This means that players who wish to make the most of their time in Tartarus will have to ensure they are well-rested outside of battle. This does quite a bit of heavy lifting in terms of changing the flow of gameplay for the game. However, it also allows players to plan out their time through Tartarus better and keep track of all their goals more manageably. To sum it up, the changes to Tartarus should improve the player experience. This is predominantly done by giving them more freedom of choice when it comes to their party's stamina. This is a welcome addition and one that will surely help players along their journey through Persona 3 Portable.

3. More Control Of Your Party

The ability to control your party member's actions is one that the original Persona 3 did not have. This time around, however, in the remaster, you are able to control your party members. Giving you quite a bit more control in your battles. This means that players will be able to have more autonomy over what their party does and how effective they can be on the battlefield. This also opens up the door for different strategies to be implemented by players.

There are many different advantages to being able to do this. First, giving players more situational awareness as they approach a fight is a fantastic design decision. This is a welcome addition and quite the change from the prior Tactics system. That only lets players choose what AI did from the outset. Giving the player more control is an excellent idea as it will further immerse the player in the gameplay as well as give them better control of their party. In conclusion, this seems to be a fantastic decision to port over from later Persona titles into Persona 3 Portable.

2. The Addition of More Difficulty Settings

Speaking of having more control in the game. Players can now adjust their difficulty with the addition of two more difficulty settings. These are, namely, Beginner and Maniac, both of which occupy the opposite ends of the difficulty spectrum. These additions make it so that players who want to customize what kind of experience they want fully can do so. Beginner, such as the name would imply, makes things significantly more accessible to the player. In fact, it gives the player thirty Plumes of Darkness and makes enemies a great deal weaker.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, however, is Maniac mode. This mode makes the fights in the game absolutely grueling for those of us who genuinely want to test ourselves. In addition, players who pick this mode will be treated to increased enemy damage, as well as a higher chance of the Enemy Advantage popping up. Also, it should be noted that players cannot carry over things from other saves within the Maniac mode. In closing, the addition of more difficulty settings is great for players of Persona 3 Portable.

1. The New Female Protaganist

The most striking and easily identified addition to Persona 3 Portable is the addition of a new female protagonist. Players will be able to choose whether or not they want to play as a male or female at the start of the game. This opens up interesting routes via the Social Link system, as the female has access to different social links than the male. The female playthrough of the game also comes with a cute dog named, Koromaru, which players can look forward to seeing. After all, who doesn't love an adorable dog?

However, this isn't the only thing that sets the two playthroughs apart. Because players will also gain access to exclusive scenes while playing as the female protagonist, this also affects the romance options that the player has to choose from. Which can add some variety to the player's playtime. In addition, while not giving too much away about the game, there is also an exclusive cutscene that features another Persona character. So, to close, the addition of a female protagonist is fantastic for player inclusion, as well as opening up different options for your playthrough of Persona 3 Portable.
