Priya Keshyap, Executive Producer, Immutable Games – Interview Series

Immutable Games’ Guild of Guardians—a mobile squad-based RPG for Android and iOS—has just released its debut chapter, Age of the Dread. To find out more about the highly-anticipated title, we caught up with the team to discuss its latest developments, as well its upcoming acts in the three-piece saga.

Thanks for taking the time to speak with us. Before we enter the world of Guild of Guardians, could you kindly introduce yourself to our readers? Who are you, and what inspired you to pursue a stake in the gaming industry?

Priya: Pleased to meet you, my name is Priya Keshyap, Executive Producer of Immutable Games. I’ve spent over 8 years working across the gaming industry, acting as the Director of Product and Partnerships for Animoca Brands prior to my role with Immutable. Gaming is my passion because there are so many unique and engaging experiences that you can bring to your players through your games that frankly aren’t possible in other mediums.

What truly inspires me is the opportunity to lead studios to launch games from 0 to 1, and ultimately scaling them through user growth and product driven tactics thereafter from 1 to 100. 

Your flagship game, Guild of Guardians, has just launched on Android and iOS. Could you tell us a bit about it? What’s the story, and how will players fit into it?

Priya: Guild of Guardians is an innovative mobile roguelite squad RPG game where players must assemble a team of guardians to combat the looming threat of the Dread in the mythical world of Elderym. The game combines fantasy adventure with blockchain technology, offering a unique blend of narrative driven strategic gameplay and player ownership of in-game assets.Players choose from over 200 unique guardians, each with distinct roles such as Warriors, tanks, assassins, support and mages, allowing for endless team-building possibilities. The narrative unfolds in a dynamic and multifaceted manner, with players exploring dungeons, engaging in strategic battles and boss fights, while progressing on to competitive guild activities. 

Players enhance their guardians through leveling, equipping them with powerful gear and participating in special live-ops events in game. 

We’ve hit >1M downloads in game now, and are seeing extremely strong engagement amongst our players globally. We’re currently at 250K Monthly active users, and have hit extremely strong monthly revenue run rate numbers, making GoG one of the top mobile Web3 games in the industry. The game also has a thriving secondary market, available via Token Trove, as well as a online game store called the Eri’s Store, available through https://www.guildofguardians.com/store, where players can purchase both Web2 and Web3 items directly and then sync it in their in game inventory. 

Tell us a bit about the first Act in the series, Age of the Dread. What can potential players expect to find in this debut chapter?

Priya: Age of the Dread was our initial act of the GOG roadmap and coincided with the formal launch of the game. This act introduced players to the auto-battler style of the game, while also unlocking special features such as the player leaderboards and the Arena & Boss challenges, providing players with a  way to further upgrade their Guardian lineup through daily challenges.

Recently, we just announced the second act of the GOG roadmap, which brought in a new legendary healer Jadey for players to add to their lineup! We’re incredibly excited for players to dive in and add Jadey to their lineups and combine her unique abilities with other Guardians in their roster! We’ll continue to have such live offers for our new roster of special guardians in game and on our Eri Store from time to time!

Guild of Guardians is also offering millions of dollars’ worth of in-game prizes, too. What sorts of rewards are we likely to see in this first portion of the campaign?

Priya: Act 1 kicked off our largest round of rewards ever at Immutable, unlocking over $1 million worth of available prizes for players. Now in Act 2, we’re offering players even more chances to earn, with an additional $500,000 in prizes alongside our newest Guardian. We expect to continue offering rewards through the Main Quest, our dedicated rewards program, throughout each act of GOG as we move forward.

Do you have any useful tips for those who are relatively new to GoG? Are there any dos or don’ts that we should take note of before jumping in?

Priya: For those new to GoG, there are several essential tips to help you get started and make the most of your gaming experience. I’ll provide 3 that contain a mix of quick wins as well as some that can help the player progress within the deep character narratives of the game

— Understand your guardians and trial the best formation within your squad: Familiarize yourself with the different classes and roles of Guardians, such as warriors, tanks, assassins, rangers, mage and support. Each class has unique strengths and weaknesses, so building a balanced team is crucial for overcoming challenges

— Daily quests and rewards: Engage in daily quests to earn valuable rewards and in-game resources. Completing these tasks regularly can significantly boost your progression and help you acquire essential items. 

— Join a guild: Being part of a guild offers cooperative benefits, including resource sharing and access to exclusive content. This can greatly enhance your gameplay experience and provide strategic advantages.

What’s next for GoG, if you don’t mind me asking? Are there any important dates that we should be checking off in our calendars?

Priya: We just completed our Jadey sale that ended on the 28th of August. Jadey was available for a limited time only and was an extremely popular new support guardian that adds significant advantage to players’ squads. We will be running more live ops events both in game as well as on our Eri Store in the near future and at the same time, there will be new content, including a brand new dungeon world that will be available in the game very soon.
