Jurassic World 3: Everything We Know

Frontier Developments, the creator behind the likes of Planet Coaster, Planet Zooand, in this case, Jurassic World Evolution, has just announced its plans to create a third sandbox-building game in the ever-fruitful Jurassic World series. That’s right — the wizards of city-building are back at the table, and they’re aiming to bring a new wave of dinosaur-based shenanigans to consoles and PC at some point over the next year or two. As for when the so-called Jurassic World 3 will arrive on its chosen platforms, however, is still a bit of a mystery.

“We are delighted to reveal that we are developing a third Jurassic World game to extend our collaborative relationship with Universal Products & Experiences for our best-selling game franchise,” said Frontier Developments chief executive officer Jonny Watts in a press release. “Our Jurassic World Evolution game franchise has showcased great creative and technical expertise in [creative management simulation] games and the strength of our select, develop, launch, and nurture strategy in the genre. I very much look forward to providing more information on our exciting plans for the franchise in the future.”

So, what more do you need to know about the latest installment in the business management series, aside from the fact that it’s currently under the wing of both Frontier Developments and Universal? Well, if you are keen to get ahead of the curve, then be sure to read on for a few more updates. Here’s everything we can currently tell you about the tentative title…

What Is Jurassic World 3?

Jurassic World 3, which is currently serving under a tentative title, is an upcoming “creative management sim” set in the Jurassic World universe. Is this Frontier Developments’ tongue-in-cheek method of saying that it’s the long-awaited third installment in the Jurassic World Evolution series? Not quite, no; in fact, up until now, the developer has kept all rather quiet about the next stint in the timeline, and has only earmarked the collaborative support of its partners, Universal Products & Experiences, and a temporary title to presumably return to over the coming weeks, months, or perhaps even years.

Of course, it is believed that the upcoming chapter in the saga will be cut from the same cloth as Jurassic World Evolution—a two-piece sandbox and park management simulation series that has since enjoyed groundbreaking success following its inception back in 2018, and then again in 2021, following the release of its anticipated sequel. Sure enough, the aptly titled Jurassic World 3 will mark the third game to enter that particular realm — or at least, that’s what we’ve been led to believe, anyway.

Story

Presuming that the upcoming game will follow in a similar pattern as the previous Jurassic World Evolution games, it seems highly likely that the story will once again center itself around the famed network of islands as depicted in the movie saga. If this is true, then players can once again expect to take to the reigns of an entrepreneurial career in the art of marketing and utilizing fossils to create bustling theme parks for a niche clientele. Again, we can’t really say too much on this, but if this is Evolution 3, then it’s sure to be a beefier version of its predecessor, complete with new maps, scenarios, and DNA.

Gameplay

It’s a little too early to say whether or not the game will feature any additional gameplay features, or if it’ll merely serve as a clone of the prequel that launched back in 2021. Either way, it’s safe to say that it will no doubt have a sandbox mode of some sort, as well as a selection of pre-made maps and scenarios to sift through, as well as several customizable options and DNA strands to incubate and modify. Only time will tell on that one, I’m afraid.

Development

As we’re still a good few months or even years away from seeing the arrival of the third generation of Jurassic World, it’s hard to say whether or not Frontier Developments will continue to keep details on it tediously scarce for the foreseeable future, or if the team will use some form of launch platform to add a little more flair to it at some point before year’s end. Honestly, though, it seems unlikely, given the fact that the studio is currently aiming to bring yet another IP to the table ahead of Jurassic World’s forthcoming sequel. If all goes according to plan, then we should, with any luck, see a bit more footage of the project in Q4 2024 at the earliest.

Trailer

It doesn’t come as much of a surprise, to be fair, but the fact is, Frontier Developments has yet to tease any form of footage or in-game screenshots of its upcoming game. Suffice it to say that, as we’re still several field goals away from seeing its grand debut, we aren’t likely to see anything for a good few months yet. Sorry, folks.

Release Date, Platforms & Editions

It is worth pointing out at this moment in time that, while Frontier Developments did initially promise to deliver one “creative management sim” each year, it’s highly unlikely that the so-called Jurassic World 3 will be released at some point ahead of the next fiscal year. To add to that, Frontier Developments did, in fact, state that the team would be announcing another project at some point in Q2/Q3 2024—a product that we’ve been led to believe is the “next” big game in the studio’s hands. Now, if that does happen to ring true, then that would essentially mean that the next leg in the Jurassic World series isn’t likely to arrive until the following fiscal year — between 2025 and 2026.

Of course, there’s still a tremendous amount that we don’t actually know about the upcoming entry in the series. With that said, if you can’t wait that long to get your hands on some more content, then you might want to consider swinging over to Frontier Developments’ official social handle for a few extra details here. If anything does change ahead of its global debut, then we’ll be sure to fill you in on all the key details right here on gaming.net.
